if only i'd seen this thread earlier. i knew it was SR since the first post. oh well. old rasputin is a pretty decent beer. i like it a lot. still, i find it ever so slightly bitter for my tastes, as far as a stout (of any sort) is concerned. its great, if i'm in the mood, but i have to be in the mood. i'd rather something like samuel smith's imperial stout or oatmeal stout, guinness extra stout, young's double chocolate stout, etc. my favorite is founders kentucky breakfast stout. absolute best stout i've ever had. anyway, my opinion is rather irrelevant in this case. enjoy your beer tomorrow
It is an occult/Masonic hand signal (OK -- for the divine king) Rasputin is giving on the bottle. Today he still exists in the same region minus the RAS (if you can DIG it).
last night i had a tallboy of steel reserve, actually. before that i went to the bar and had a good beer, though. tried a bottle of rogue's brutal bitter. it was pretty nice, but nothing outstanding. a nice hops fix for a broke college student, though, so it made me happy. i found it slightly unbalanced, but the name is misleading. it's hoppy and bitter alright, but not too brutal in that regard but i should have looked at the price first before ordering. its just the bottle displayed on the shelf had been tempting me for some time. i didnt think about the fact that its an expensive brewery to begin with and on top of that its a big bottle, AND bar pricing. cost me nine bucks for that sonofabitch. oh, well.
