they stopped selling the 6pack of pbr pounders here, now they just have the 12oz cans. but they started carrying genesee pounders, so i got a sixpack of that, though the pbr is cheaper.

its not bad, but for the price it's not great

 

got a sixpack of sierra nevada torpedo ipa

its just alright

then again, its highly rated and i have a bad cold. maybe i can't taste it properly. or maybe it will grow on me. or maybe people are just wrong. idk. but its all bitterness and high(ish) alcohol, and very little depth that i can notice at the moment

 

E+J is the undisputed king of brandy

hell, even st. remy is better than e&j

had two big plastic drinking cups of some box wine, at my friends' place to take the edge off earlier.

now i'm on my first pounder of budweiser. just picked up a sixpack. i doubt i'll get more than three deep before i'm ready for bed, i'm drained right now.

not getting drunk, though. i did earlier, with the wine, but that was hours ago, and its well out of my system. right now i'm just unwinding and trying to stop thinking so i can sleep. gross beer, though.

tonight i'm nursing an 11cl bottle of trappist achel 8º blond, a delightful, but STRONG, trappist ale from belgium.

it was on closeout at the liquor store, so i snatched up the oldest, dustiest bottle i saw...i wish i could have gotten an old bottle of the dark beer because strong belgian ales age magnificently, but the bruins were all from this year. the bottle i got appears to be an '05, but the label isn't in english so i can only assume that since it should age well its a "bottled-on" date rather than a "best by" date.

anyway, its strong, rich and estery, with tons of little yeast dregs in the bottom of the glass. aromas of caramel and fruit, with a bright, crisp flavor with notes of apricot, orange, spices and herbs.

a great find for the price, definitely :cheers2:
