I know you didn't actually use the words ruined or destroyed, but that's the way the above statements came across to me...

So like I said before: caring about your child who is in pain is one thing, but focusing on the cuts, scar, and perfect face is a little over the top. Sorry I didn't offer you e-hugs, but don't you think it's your son who needs actual hugs right now?

I am sorry Daisy.. BIG HUG :)

I understand the feeling, I cut my head open when I was 5 and had a bunch of stitches and now I have bump and scar on my for head, and it sucks. So I hope he doesn't get stuck with nasty scars, but I would use that cream to help him out, because I wish my mom had some when I got my cut..

I just signed in to say you guys quit giving Daisy a hard time, shes obviously a very caring mother who has had a stressful enough day without you guys making her feel any worse.

Daisy bigs hugs and as mother to mother I know exactly where you are comming from x

Although I am clearly not a mother I do have a little brother who I care deeply about, and there is nothing more terrifying than seeing children seriously hurt!

Like this once we were swimming and I looked away for literally half a second, and turned around to see him with his legs waving in the air and top half under the water, he had flipped over in his swim tube thing. Panic!! (probably three at the time)
Like the scariest moment of my life!

Although this once was funny, he slid down a slide face first and smashed his face into the ground, and luckily he wasn't hurt at all, didn't even cry. but for the next week or so he said his nose was bothering him, so my dad took a look wayyy up there and grabbed the tweezers. Turns out there was a piece of bark lodged into his nose, it was far enough to not be visible, and it was HUGE (well, compared to his nose at least). We snapped a photo of it next to his nose, I should find the picture. The bark was longer than his little nose!

guess im just a horrible person who knows nothing about life and having scars and being in pain and has never been there when a child has gotten hurt even tho i baby sit all the time and just has a belief that when a child gets hurt it creates a learning experience

guess ill be a horrible piece of shit mom in your guys eyes even tho everyone of my friends that are moms are the same way about it being how they learn what danger is and that if its not life threatening that there isn't a reason to let it ruin your day.

no the fuck it wont unless it is life threatening there is no reason to let it ruin your day you can't protect your kid from everything they are going to get hurt its part of life

im guessing you guys scream and cry when your child is learning how to walk and falls. which again is how they learn balance and about danger.

and go ahead and hate on me for this post because i know you will i just have a sense of what really happens in life

Dreadedsunflower...your'e going to be an amazing mommy. I understand what you mean perfectly...cuz on some level I totally agree...sometimes kids just do learn better when they mess up and get hurt. However....that doesnt erase the feeling of panic you get as a mother when you hear your child screaming in pain and then run to their side and see blood on their face...it's absolutely terrifying. I remember the first time that happened to my daughter...she was like around 2 yrs. and she fell down a step...She started screaming bloody murder...I heard her from the other room...and in that split moment you always think the worse and my heart fell through the fucking floor as I ran as fast as I could to her side...to see blood drooling out of her mouth and pain and confusion in her little eyes....I guess what Im trying to say is that it's a whole different ball game when it's your own child....cuz you have a world of emotions tied into your own children. When you see another child that isnt your own get hurt...yeah its sad...but not nearly as heartwrenching as when it's your own.

Im not hating hun...I respect your view. Nobody is saying that you can protect your kid from everything...that isnt the point of the discussion. The point is that it sucks to watch your kiddo be in pain.

Thanks for the hugs everyone. I've definitely needed them. Today we had the house inspection so I'm all nerved up waiting to here if the sale passes or not... on top of everything else.

He's doing really well. I took him to see his doc today and they considered giving him stitches again, but decided against it because the flap of skin that is hanging over top is protecting the open wound. They also gave me some medicated cream to help him avoid infection. That's the worst though, eh? It's hard for a four year old to not touch. :(

He's cracking me up though. He is loving the attention and randomly all day i've been hearing "Mommy, come rub tummy". lol

lol. Amara had a horrible allergic reaction to a penicyllin based medication when she was around 3. She broke out in huge red blisters. They were all over her arms, torso and legs. She couldnt sit or lay down. It was awful! I had to sit with her in the ER for 7 hours before we could even be seen...then another 4 hours in the Dr's room before staff could figure out what was wrong with her!!!! Bwah. In the mean time they were taking all sorts of blood tests and poking her with needles....so they told me she couldnt eat or drink anything while they were testing. Yeah friggin right! They swore like I was gonna starve my baby on top of it all. It made me sooo mad! Anyways...they finally figured out what it was and she had to take a steroid based medication to get better...scary stuff. I felt so awful for everything she had to endure that I spoiled her rotten for days afterwards. Not only that but my family and friends were spoiling her too! She ate up all the attention! 3 years later [present date] she still will randomly fake illnesses and ask to go to the ER! lol. About a week ago she tried to get out of going to school and woke up crying that the red bumps had returned! OMG. Its so funny what kids will hold onto...they milk everything for what it's worth and then some!

sorry i got so hostile i'm just set in my ways mainly because when i was a kid i didn't go crying to anyone when i got hurt i just dealt with it i've got scars all over me mainly my hands from falling on pavement. one time i fell off my bike and scraped to the flesh three of my knuckles on my left hand and on my left knee to the point where i couldn't move them for a week and didn't go to a doctor or to my guardian i just slapped a band-aid on it and went about my daily life.

This shit on here with these people sometimes is ridiculous. No point in arguing.

I feel for you daisy as I have been there (and do not freak out over my son falling) but when there is blood involved it is especially scary. Give him lots of hugs from some of the mothers on this board.

when i see a 16 year old, 19 year old woman, so young with a big tummy and a baby in her arms. its shocking, not because i think she can't be a good mother to her children. its a similar feeling; when i see me 17 year old friend have is birthday and then get shipped to bootcamp the next. in 9 months he'll be in Iraq seeing some fucked up stuff and there goes his innocence. as i know him he is still a kid, but he'll have to man-up real quick and thats real hard to do for a young mind. not that i dont think he can take orders, and shoot to kill, and be killed for his country; its just fucked up how he'll never be the same.

i guess we all grow up some time. i wish you the best for you and child.
