actually, to my shame i know little to nothing about where you live.

i've considered canada because it at least seems a little more sane than the us, but i despise the cold. even an ohio/indiana winter is too much for me, so going farther north is probably a bad idea. though perhaps someplace like vancouver could work.

i'm very interested in europe in general, but don't know where i could go, and i would want to move someplace i've at least visited before.

belize, in central america, sounds like a good place, and they're trying very hard to make it a safer place because they've realized tourism is their best bet to improving the economy, plus i hear while cannabis is still pretty illegal its also fairly openly tolerated there. if i pursue my studies in psychology and do well enough for myself and end up in the research field, which i hope will be possible, perhaps i could find a job at a university or school in belize, then it would be easier to get to stay. plus i'm very interested in psychedelic research, and quite honestly the american government makes it almost, but not quite, impossible to pursue research in this field, and i'm wondering if such things may more easily be pursued in central america (i know european governments allow easier means of pursuing such research in general than the US does)

plus my hatred of cold weather would easily be remedied by living somewhere like belize....i've heard wonderful things about it from everyone i know who's gone there (sister, mother, and a few friends)

the only thing to bother me about it is hurricanes, but i figure here in the american midwest we get tornados and blizzards and shit, so a hurricane...i dont know....people survive MOST of them, even if they're a huge inconvenience. lately people have had bad luck (katrina and such) but most storms aren't as bad as all that.

I spoke to a friend today , who reckons Belize is getting worse.
I was astounded because other places round there are improving alot.
Best speak to the Belize resident here- assume u know him?

Britain is bringing in a points system for skilled immigrants.
    Or Australia..?

yes, i have heard some very depressing things about belize, too.

i was involved in a project to start a trade/craft school there last fall/winter. it doesn't seem to be going very successfully. the majority of the locals are extremely poor and extremely demotivated.

I think that if some of these places can get the political stability/corruption sorted , then they can be ok.But I've heard drugs trade is fuelling shit

I've heard about property people from the States investing in Central America , expecting migrants from the States ( retirees etc)- like has happened with Europe's migrations.

Dunno.:confused:Mexico seems to have been leaping forward..?

I don't understand when people say their background is "Canadian."

I mean... We have no culture now, so unless you mean oldschool British or French or Native, it's sort of confusing... :O

I lived 30 minutes from Canada (Windsor) basically my whole life. I loved it.

Especially when I turned 19 and when over the bridge to drink!

Canada has a vibrant culture man...I don't know what you are talking about!!!!
