I went to a Catholic school, so the upbringing was a bit forced. Fortunately when we were about 14, they eased up and let us make up our own minds, which is quite good as that was about the time me and some of my friends started asking ourselves some interesting questions.

I started off Catholic and my mom hated it, when she finally discovered that Lutherans don't suck as much she got really comfortable with her new church. So did my sister but, I was never comfortable with religon and I recently (with help from posting on the forums) found out I am atheist with a little part that's too scared to be athiest and is still agnostic.

I was raised by a devout atheist, and a meek agnostic. I went to Sunday school, and attended a private Christian school for Gr. 3 to 5.

I always believed in something, and in this past year have learned I was not as firm in my faith as I thought. I am much more so now.

We are all where we want to be right now, whether we will admit it or not. Usually only successful folk admit it.
I say if you want to be a theist, be one, now, whats the hold up? Shit or get off the pot........lol. I imagine that you are not a theist cuz you are an intelligent, logical, rational thinker. You use critical thinking skills, and you can not escape the brains conclusion that theism is illogical. If it is not that, please let me know, as I want to learn.
If you want to be a Wiccan, be one.
"And it harm none, do what you will."
Just follow this suggestion, and you are one, I think? Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Yes, I agree, I often found myself thinking the same. Now I am in a different mindset, Spirit is part of my reality, but what does that mean?
I think it doesn't matter one way or the other if Spirit exists or not, and that if it does, (my strong belief), Spirit could not care less if someone believes in its existence. And, while on the topic, Spirit is not offended by swear words, but has learned the sticks and stones thing, and that words are just words. 'Ceptin hatred, or violence inciting statements. And we are all right, theres no hell, we cant really f up even if we tried, it all good, it'll all work out, and it is one of the perks of the position that it can play hide and seek, for amusement purposes.
    Thats what I heard anyway............lol

I was born into a Luthern family that did not believe they needed to go to church. They sent me to Sunday School untill they got tired of dragging me accross the street kicking and screaming. I guess it never felt right even when I was a little one.

Then I joined a Penacostal Church (so my best friends parents would let me come over and play). They almost had me going for awhile and I even accidently got saved one day(I blacked out in church from a medical condition that I was born with and I woke up with everyone laying hands and speaking in tounges over me--FREAKY--, then when I was still out of it they got me good.) I left that after I had enough bullshit. (Like tickling young kids and saying the holy spirit was filling them with laughter, people who were blessed with the holy tounge saying phrases like "Sa Weeng Batterrr Batterr Sa Weeng" and the Pastor having an affair with another member of our church)

Now I rely on my own inner spirituality(Just trying to do more good than bad in this crazy world). No more man made spiritual fixes with a lot of red tape for me.

I grew up in religous communities of the "protestant" variety. I tend now toward nihilistic solipsism and am part a religous community that believes psychedelics are sacraments that expand consciousness and the realization that life is a dream and the externality of relations an illusion. Religion has certainly gotten a bad name and justifiably so in many cases. But it can also mean the shared beliefs of a group of people, and in that context, hippies can be said be a religous movement.

I was raised Jewish, then phased into agnosticism in high school. I still follow Jewish holidays and customs, just not the religion.

I was raised catholic, but I strated questioning my faith at the age of fifteen and became an atheist. I use to think that man invented God as someone to look up to and keep people in line. Then as funny as this may seem I was looking at porn one day and I thught to myself how can all human existence be an accident. I know that Jesus says that lust in the mind is a sin and if a married man looks at a woman in lust he has created adultry. Bullshit. I think that lust is a perfect and natural thing of human nature. I think that God invented lust in the mind to make man and woman want ot get to know each other better, so we can keep breeding the human race. If I had to label myself as something I'd be a pantheist or a deist. I believe that God created man and the earth and abandoned the earth and man without control over it and didn't set a revelation.

And if you join, you will find we have the lowest tithes, guaranteed. 20%?, no, 10%? no, 5% no, we only ask for 2.5%. And if you find lower tithes anywhere, we will beat their rate by 5%. And what do you get for your cold, hard cash donations? You would think that we would not be able to offer you very much for such a small sum. As an example, lets say you make $50 000 per year. At 20%, you'd be paying $10 000 every single year! Here, we demand only $1 250.00, which works out to not much more than $100 a month. Imagine what you could do with all that extra income you’d be saving...

I was baptised, and as a kid did beleive in God. I prayed every night. But, as I grew older, I dunno, I just changed my view on the world. I became an Atheist by choice. Have been for around 9 years.

Some of my friends find this amusing, as I have a GCSE in religious studies.
