But I'd consider the US the be the first "first world" nation on that list. Poland is close, places like Coasta Rica, Russia, Ukraine, Thailand are definitely well developed nations, but I wouldn't put them in the echelon of first world nations.

Though I do wonder where Brazil is on that list. Brazil has more murders than the US every year with over a 120 million people less in population.

If states had the right to secede though it wouldn't be revolution, it'd be a state threatening to leave the union every time something passed congress they didn't like. It's be perpetual blackmail.

The south is the poorest part of the country and southern states consistently take in more in federal funds than they pay into the federal budget. I'd be willing to bet the deep south would collapse. Well the deep south would anyways, Texas, Florida, Virginia, North Carolina, they'd all probably be fine.

 

They do that here too. They inherently watch the ground for snakes, and they avoid human contact in case they meet a Seppo.

No more GMOs! Also, everything should be organic, no more pesticides or antibiotics. And of course I would like to stop bombing other countries. And I would want the government to care more about endangered plants, or really just care more about nature altogether.

-repeal the patriot act
-ban GM foods
-end prohibition
-completely restructure the government from 50 states to 5 or 6 provinces
-limit federal power to what was originally intended in the constitution

 

Stop intervention in wars that are none of our business but have financial or political gain for certain members of the business community
Ensure no-one falls outside the social welfare system
Cut hospital waiting lists to the extent that no one dies before getting treatment
Scrap the House of Lords
Ensure government representatives meet with their constituents on a regular basis to explain why they vote the way they do in the House

I honestly think violence and crime would go down if security/authority wasn't so tight. Feel free to think I'm wrong, but think about how many people do things out of spite of government or police officers...

 

Canada:

Abolish the senate. Then have the senate voted in by the people.

Have a guaranteed income as part of social reform. There is no excuse for poverty other than apathy.

Make the criminal code current. Including revision of laws that should not be included in Canada (ie cannabis, polygamy just to cite two of the many). Also to amend laws that need to be more current such as pedophilia, abuse and many others.

Force leadership change of current political parties.

Eliminate gun registry, it is a farce.

Settle outstanding land claims.

Deregulate many crown corporations.

Increase the base of support workers for those who need them. It is underfunded and understaffed.

 

Ok-I'll go for it.

Reverse the supreme court decision about corporations being able to give unlimited funds to elections. Do it by law. (right wing decision reversed)

Remove ALL money from elections. Restrict political speech to the stations WE own=C Span and force-repeat force ABC,CBS,FOX,NBC to carry debates free of charge. Prove the "the people" own the airwaves ,as has been stated for years.

Expand the eligibility of 3rd,4th,5th and 6th parties to break the monopoly of the two that exist and by law, all parties to be included in debates. (political inclusion of more citizens= fairness and thus more ideas put forward)

There is a tremendous amount of waste in government,particularly with contractors that charge for services. (500 $ toilet seats,etc). Hire as many inspectors as needed to watch the budgets of all branches of government -to make sure food is inspected thoroughly on site, the oil companies and all large corporations are conducting business in moral and legal ways with fines and jail for those that flaunt their responsibilities to the public by action or inaction,as the case may be. These inspectors will more than pay for their own salaries by cutting waste from government. End all subsidies.(money saved)

Cut the military budget. I have read that this country is seven times more powerfull than ALL the other countries with military expenitures combined,including Russia and China.Maybe twice as powerfull would work. (money saved)

Inform China and all other countries that if the hacking of our businesses and military does not stop forthwith-all imports will stop immediately. And absolutely.

Inform all American businesses that leave or have left this country, forsaking our citizen workers, that tariffs will be brought to bear on their products high enough so that they will be extremely encouraged to COME HOME and provide living wage jobs for their fellow citizens. No more 10 dollar tennis shoes made elsewhere sold for 150 dollars here.

No more overseas shipping of raw forest products ,steel,ect, that can be processed here. We need to make finished products here,thereby creating needed jobs. eg:no more logs to Japan.

We've closed many military bases. Open one large base and provide the problematic drugs (meth,heroin,crack,ect) to the addicts and provide re-hab on-site for those that want to get clean. Those that are addicted and want to clean up and change their lives for the better will take advantage of the re-hab facilities. Those that don't will remain on the base and smoke/shoot themselves to oblivion,if they so wish. No children allowed. (money saved,your and my possesions remain with us,fewer dollars spent on jail and courts.

Immediately make auto companies construct and release small cars with diesel engines that use bio -diesel and allow farmers to grow vast acres of hemp for fuel,clothing,plastics,medicines and all the other products that hemp can make. Even better=hydrogen cars with hemp for the other products mentioned. money saved and actually made here and the damage to the environment mitigated.

Legalize pot and allow people to grow however many plants they want. Prohibition will/has never worked. We will do what we will do. Make pure LSD and use it in the proper(?) set and setting for the advancement of humankind to create a more peacefull and understanding society ,if not the world.

Now ,with some of the savings I think we might realize =socialized medicine and socialized education. NO MORE MIDDLEMEN insurance companies that do all the things we all know they do. No need to enumerate. Now think of the millions and millions of potential ideas that would come to the fore ,if everyone could attain the highest education possible. What has been forever lost over time because affordability was an issue as it is today.

Install iris/alcohol detection devices in anyones car that gets a DUI. No more having a friend blow in it so that drunks can terrorize and kill others.

Begin to mention population control. A nationwide or perhaps earth-wide program to reign in the population to two per couple until those coming and those going match. Then reduction to a sustainable population which could be determined by the remaining assets of the earth relative to population. Could be called=Replace yourself.

TERM LIMITS. Speaks for itself.

Use the Clint Eastwood method of dealing with any aggressors. It's what I use and it's what I taught my children and I like it. Never start trouble and walk away from it if you can. But if it looks inevitable--take care of it thoroughly and immediately.

NO MORE FOREIGN AID. Other than disaster relief. No more military supplies to other countries at OUR expense. No more dealing with dictators like Mubaric,papa doc,Baby doc,Marcos and the rest of them. (GET OFF OIL FOR VEHICLES.) This aid only helps american business to collude with dictators to extract their resources to the detriment of their citizens. Less hate for us from around the world and a moral stance taken.
