There are no straight lines in nature. I kept repeating this over and over again on my first shroom trip.
exactly. we created the square and the straight line and the 90 degree angle. i believe that its all real simple and we just will never figure it out because we were given logic and reasoning which is a blessing as well as our demise (maybe not the right word). my motto is all i know is that i dont know. i take everything as true and false because how the hell am i really suppose to know especially with the brainwashing going on today with in our media and all these old political bastards who are so stuck in their own mind and cant even begin to see the truth. i thank the creator for psychedelics they shaped my world peace
we are all one, like a pool of spirit that has been ladeled into a billion different vessels. our planet is only a notch up from a single cell on a fractal scale. God exists as a universal force but is such a radical idea that we can't even wrap our minds around it.
We are whatever we can be. People who are considered good are just those with more self controll, take it away and they may do anything.
how is the cessation of suffering possible when it is suffering that defines this very lifetime? suffering is one of the fundamental driving forces behind the universe. without suffering, without an enemy, how on earth would we ever learn how to love, or live with patience, or tranquility? yes, except i think that the path isn't circular, but that it goes on infinitely. so even though we may be progressing to somewhere i don't think that it is the same place as our beginning. but at the same time the beginning forms an inegral part of wherever that is. but i still think that you shouldn't forget that even though the 'ultimate truth' may be far beyond what we may perceive, that this lifetime forms an essential knowledge base for our astral selves. what we learn is very important. -- but there are a few names that i havn't really seen around these forums. i havn't made a post in almost 2 weeks now. i guess things change fast. good to see more people chiming in. i beleive that truth can only be brought about through actions. knowledge is useless without action. "The possession of Knowledge, unless accompanied by a manifestation and expression in Action, is like the hoarding of precious metals, a vain and foolish thing. Knowledge, like Wealth, is intended for Use. The Law of Use is Universal, and he who violates it suffers by reason of his conflict with natural forces." - The Kybalion like a waking dream we must learn to manipulate the reality around us and resonate whatever it is that we may be onto the world. this is just another step in growth, and once we reach that stage we may progress even further. when you open yourself up to the world, you also open yourself up to infinite lessons and possibilities. i believe in synchronicity. i believe that our lives are defined by our karma and they are already predestined. synchronicity is one of the forces of nature that karma uses. it is quite incredibly really, and you that all you need to do it look for it. like a guide, synchonicity carries us through our karma and fate. we are all different though, and very few people have a similar karma and even less have identical karmas. but those people will cross eachothers paths in life. even if only for a small period of time, the meeting can still sometimes be one of the most meaningful and lifechanging of any experiences in either of the beings' lives. there are infinite paths to take, but they all lead to the same place. all paths lead to unity of being. and then from there... well i guess we aren't quite capable of comprehending that yet.
Because it is the mind which defines this very lifetime, suffering is only one of the truths that manifest definition. Change your mind, and you change suffering. No, it isn't. Suffering is an interpretation of the part of reality which is driven, dependant on other forces, by mind, and is caused by clinging. Suffering is cancelled out by the cessation of clinging and living by compassion. It's not my place to say why it must be this way, that suffering is how we learn (other than that it is born from mind, take that as your mind will) but only to realize that it suffering can and does and will cease.
yes, but i just dont think it is possible to 'change your mind' without suffering in the first place. maybe we can reach a point as a society where there is no suffering, but it won't last for long. without suffering we will soon become ignorant and fall right back into the trap which we seek to avoid. we can reach a point in ourselves however which might seem free of suffering. but it is impossible to reach this point without traversing through much suffering and the karma that is associated with it. because there is a point in time in which suffering has existed, suffering will always exist. even if it not in the present, it will always form a very important part of ourselves and our karma. just because it may be possible to leave that part of reality which suffers, it does not mean that it will cease to exist afterwards. given the simple fact that suffering has existed, is enough to infer that it will always exist.
Again friend, I am not in a position to say why it is through suffering that we look elsewhere, I only see the suffering can be changed. Suffering is a state of mind, which results from clinging (a state of mind) to the objective material/spiritual/empty/full world (states of mind). It is mind which causes all of this; when the mind is changed, so is all of this. "All that we are is the result of what we have thought: it is founded on our thoughts, it is made up of our thoughts. If a man speaks or acts with an evil thought, pain follows him, as the wheel follows the foot of the ox that draws the carriage." -Shakyamuni Budda
im not saying that it can't be changed, but more that suffering is just a part of life and because it has existed at a certain point in time that it will always exist. it is just part of the dual nature of things, one side of the whole. when we suffer, we gain a better perspective on things. suffering defines enlightenment and compassion. without suffering, what would we move on from? even if all sentient life advanced beyond a point of suffering, it would still exist in the past or at some point in time. i think its a semantics issue. obviously suffering is one of the most pertinent issues to this lifetime. just look at all the suffering in the world, and how far we have come.
I think I'm with relayer, suffering can be overcome, but not through trying to overcome suffering. If you try to overcome suffering, you'll get what desos is talking about, "enlightenment defined by suffering". But if you can move beyond that beyond, you get enlightenment that CAN'T be defined. Beyond that beyond, there happens to be no suffering, but it's not because you tried to eliminate suffering.
