The OP said they wanted some good advice, lol, not advice they are going to regret later. Every friend that I know that joined the military now regrets it and they have PTSD...bad choice, but that's just my opinion.

Yeah I'm kinda stuck in the same boat, I love music but having to go to work and teach idiot kids all day would piss me off! I just lack the patience to do it.

Perhaps if you could become famous and rich in your spare time it would solve all your problems.
heres my formula to solve all lifes problems

    1)become famous
    2)become rich
3)have lots of fun and lots of sex

This is the secret of a happy life op - i hope you enjoy being rich and famous a lot

Broony is correct. One I don't think you're mature enough to join the Service.

But the MAIN REASON not to join up is one word. Grunt. Not being real smart you likely would end up in the Infantry. From Infantry School to Iraq or Afghanistan or Libya. From there it's 50-50 whether you come home standing up or with a toe tag.

Recruiters are like cops and salesmen. :devil:They LIE for a living. They got a monthly quota to make.

    Don't play their game.

There's tech/trade schools of every shape out in the world. Get into Julliard the music conservatory back east somewhere. Make potholders (for HOT pans you gomers) pottery, chainsaw carvings....people will buy the weirdest shit sometimes if it is handmade. Sell your craftwork to pay for school and basic needs like rent, grub, bills and gas.

I was in during the tail end of the Viet Nam War. I don't suffer from PTSD. Instead I feel guilt because I didn't get killed over there.

When I got out I went to college for 2 1/2 years for free+I got $270 every month to live on. In 1986 I bought my house with a VA Loan. When I finally kick the bucket I can have a military service with bugling and a rifle salute if I want cuz I'm a vet.:patriot:

So tell me kiddo what's so special about you that you can't do some manual labor or something that involves you sweating?

Were you born with a silver spoon in your mouth? And just how old are you? 14? 16?

Kid you ain't got a clue. Life is hard. It's alot harder when you're stupid. The Duke said that.

He needs mom to explain what being talked about here and I don't think she's happy about it. He's under 13.

I get the sense that you're only open to easy answers which suggests that your mom has the right idea. Success isn't arrived at via the path of least resistance- it's willfully taking on what you really don't want to do and exorcising those fears.

My advice is to abandon the notion that life is supposed to be easy.

I somehow doubt that he is even coming here anymore. Reality is just too hard to take at that age.

OP, it's very hit or miss to make it as a musician... mostly miss

It's a shame there's not more value put on it, but there's only money in it if you're a superstar

Make sure your band has plenty of ways to collect tips because the pub may not pay for your gas and dinner
