I like classic cars for their looks to be sure, but I'm a little sketchy about rollin' with no airbag system. My folks have a '61 Chevy Impala, and let me tell you... back then they didn't even make seat belts! I sketch hard riding in that car. It's a beautiful car though. It was handed down to my dad from my grandpa.

My '63 Dart had seat belts in the front.
The first federal law was in 1968. Shortly thereafter the shoulder strap (3 point harness) law came into being. It was pain early on as the manufacturers couldn't figure out how to make ones that were comfortable. And you had to fold some of them up and stow them near the ceiling.

    Remember these?

My '92 Miata has no passenger airbag. Just one in the steering wheel.

You must restore this car. Don't let it rust away to nothingness.

that isn't a picture of the impala my parents own, but ours isn't a showpiece. It's primarily used for towing trailers to manage their garbage without needing to buy into waste management companies. It's garaged, but there are no plans to upgrade it that I'm aware of.

Car restoration is a bitch, and very costly. Believe me, I know. Instead, why not make a few modifications to make it tollerable to ride and make it into a rat rod?

Sometimes I wish I'd've done that to my old jeep. Now that it has new paint, I'm reluctant to take it on the back roads for some fun.

I don’t know if I’d go the rat rod way with the Impala in the pic. Yeah it’s not one the high on the list desirable cars being a 4 door but you can do enough to it to make it into a driver. It won’t be a show piece but it would be a damn nice car for play. Save the Impalas and turn the Biscaymes into rat rods.
