at what stage of dready development did you start dying your hair? Im just curious cuz Im at 2.5 months and have been toying with the idea of dying my hair too. is that too early you think?
I bleached / dyed my dreads after about 2 months. I think the colour lasted about a fortnight, it was that directions stuff I think, although the place I got it from had some alternative brands. Even the bleach seems to have faded out of it now considering sections of it were almost white when it was fresh, I think this is because the dreads have locked more so its a combination of denser hair, darker hair from the centre of the dread migrating outwards, and unbleached hair locking over the bleached stuff. As for more permanent colours sally do a range of "permanent" colour gels that are cheap as fuck I tried banana yellow (this is due a a conversation the previous day with my sister about how cool a colour this would be) but i all honesty its debatable if it did anything, maybe something with greater contrast would have worked well, but as it stands I can't really recommend them. On a sally-related note I think it would be worth having a read up on how to do with hair bleach / dye thing properly, because for the cost of a bleach kit in superdrug you can get the best part of a gallon of the required chemicals and in strengths to suit yourself (i.e. nuke the fuck out your hair.) and on a related-related note there's and instructable on instructables about how to die your hair with kool-aid.
I've been dyeing my hair since I was 17 didn't stop me dyeing my new dreadlings either. I didn't find dyeing hindered the locking process. Oooh Yes pypes I heard about kool aid. But you don't get it in England apart from select internet sites and ebay. So it's a bit expensive. It only tastes nice If I put 2lbs of sugar in my kool aid pitcher
doesnt dyeing your hair (especially with dreads) make it all brittle? i dyed my undreaded hair ages ago, and as i started dreading the little dyed bits left started breaking off and going all shitty... personally i dont think locks should be coloured at all man...
white dreads would be sick a dark purple with a few light purple dreads would pwn umm black dreads with white tips would make u look awsome since you have fattys ummdark red. maybe a really beachy whitish blonde color which i think u have
