Chicken, vegetable, pasta bake with chilli and garlic (shhhh don't tell the kid!) And a story to go with... When I moved out of home at 16 my mum gave me this super old casserole dish. A few years after moving out she claimed that I took the dish without asking. Every time she saw that dish she insisted that I took it and that she didn't give it to me, so it came to be that this dish with a missing lid and outer paint coming off had a significance to me. Tonight when I went to cook my bake (haven't done one in forever) and use my dish I realised that it is at the ex's house and I didn't take it with me when I moved 10 months ago I'm not asking for the damned dish though! The bake was nice anyway
A complete failure of a crock potted pork and veg. It's just so disgusting that the dogs don't want any. How did this happen?
If I were you, I'd ask the ex to let me have the dish if it meant something to me. Plus I place a lot of importance on casseroles. I have a ninja suit that you can borrow, if he doesn't let you have the dish. Actually I don't have one, but I will look around for one. Seriously though...if the dish has significance for you, you should really get it back...and post pics of it...with a casserole.
Wellll it's a casserole dish but because it has no lid it's fairly useless for casseroles. I'll gladly take a ninja suit though, never know when that could come in handy.
It's cold and rainy today, so I'm making a hearty vegetable soup in the crockpot. I also tried making homemade ketchup, all the ketchups have so much salt. I ground up allspice, cloves and mustard seed and added ground cinnamon, onion powder and garlic powder to a can of tomato paste with some water and apple cider vinegar and a bit of maple syrup. It already tasted good! But I put it in the fridge to let the flavours meld overnight.
I struggle with crock pot meals sometimes because as far as seasoning, I rarely use recipes or exact measurements. I usually just hover over the stove and obsessively season to taste, but with crock pot meals you really have no choice but to get the seasoning right on the first go and cant really taste test while it cooks
Unconventional breakfast today, pan seared sea scallops and sautéed cremini mushrooms. And for dinner, duck breast with asparagus and fresh pineapple for dessert.
I'm really loving this new crockpot. I made curried chicken drumsticks for dinner today. I put it on in the morning and it was ready for dinner. I just quickly made couscous and a salad to go with it. Now if only the pot was self cleaning.
Papas rellenas with aji dipping sauce. For those who have never had them, it is basically mashed potatoes and a ground beef mixture rolled into a ball, rolled into egg and flour and deep fried. They turned out so good and i'm really proud because my puerto rican sister in law says everytime she tries to make them they fall apart lol
It sounded really, really good till i got to the "deep fried" part. I don't like (can't really stand) anything deep fried I also never heard of aji sauce. Googled it though, and that I would try lol. Anyways, interesting things in this thread!
You can also pan fry it but i think theyre more likely to fall apart when pan fried. I suppose you could bake them for a healthier option but the breading might not turn out right. But i definitely recommend the aji sauce. It is delicious
I haven't had an offer like that in a while! Today was leftover curry and crème brûlée. Love that dessert.
