Spaghetti Bolognese, using the very cheapest pork and beef mince but it tastes great.Jar of readymade sauce, sprinkled with grated hard cheese from a carton.
Veg pizza with fermented hot yellow peppers. I shredded some smoked cheddar on top, it added a great flavour. And since it was a bitterly cold rainy day, I decided to bake bread. No-salt breads are ridiculously expensive, even if you can find them. One was a sweeter egg bread. I sliced it up, wrapped the slices individually to prevent sticking together and put it all in a bag, ready for the freezer. The other was a multigrain... whole wheat, amaranth, rolled oats, wheat germ and sunflower seeds. I liked both of them, but I preferred the multigrain with the seeds.
Yum i need to make some bread I am waiting on a crockpot roast with potatoes and carrots to finish cooking
I made a dill Classic French omelette this morning. It's been a while, I forgot how to make it! As you can tell by the misshapen mess. But it tasted good, with blackberries and homemade multigrain bread.
When you make a meal like this it looks elegant and sophisticated When i make a meal like this it looks like I made it for preschoolers lol
Hubby wanted the shrimp we've had in the freezer. I made a rice with some Adobo and Garlic for seasoning. I made Shrimp, with Onion, Bell Pepper, Garlic, Sazzon, and Cayenne to go over the rice. I almost forgot...A little queso tops all that.
Every time I see you mention frying or grilling a pear, I want to try it. I have to get some pears. I had a Christmas tree omelette today. Not intentionally. lol I used fresh dill and tarragon. I was really craving tarragon and it hit the spot perfectly.
I made manicotti yesterday. It's the first time I tried it in the crockpot. The lasagna had come out so well, I figured manicotti would be just as good in the slow cooker. I cooked it for 2-1/2 hours on high but it was a tad too soft. 2 hours would have been sufficient. The recipe called for cheese filling only (ricotta, mozzarella and parmesan) but I added chopped zucchini and boletus mushrooms (I buy dried mushrooms and reconstitute them in water just before cooking. Dried have a stronger flavour than fresh mushrooms and you can always have some on hand, they keep so much longer than fresh mushrooms.) It was a delicious combination! In my slow cooker 16 manicotti shells made 2 layers of 5 and 1 layer of 6 (my cooker is wider at the top than the bottom). I froze meals with 3 manicottis per container, sprinkled a bit of mozzarella on top. They're going to be a nice treat.
zapped a couple of sausages and some mushroom risoto (frozen from tj's) in the microwave. nothing difficult or fancy. had some watermellon bits and a crusant with them. may zap a vac packed turkey, stuffing and gravy later if i don't hoof it to one of those free holiday dinners which as time continues to go by, seems increasingly unlikely that i will.
I made cranberry sauce and deviled eggs for my family's thanksgiving meal. I still sit at the kid's table so i'm not assigned anything more difficult to cook
cooked some potstickers....and then on the first bite i remembered i bought these same ones last summer and they were gross.... so in the garbage they go.... and if youre a starving kid in africa thats too fucking bad you were born there....but if you can fly here youre welcome to eat my garbage
I bought some sausage from a lady at work whose family raises pigs I didnt know what i wanted to do with it, but I was craving something with colombian aji (hot pepper) sauce. So i made a batch of aji sauce And for the sausage, i made a casserole of sorts with sausage, potatoes, tomatoes, green pepper, onion, and tomato paste to pull it all together. I baked it then poured aji sauce over it and ate it with toast I have no idea what I concocted but it reminded me of sloppy joes with a colombian twist so i've been calling it sloppy joses. Next time i make it i'm going to buy a loaf of fresh baked bread from the colombian bakery down the street to eat with it.
