Sorry, you've probably made them already, but I can't find that video! I'm going to have to pull out my older backup drive and check it. The link below is close to how I've made the onions. But I remember mention of adding more water. It actually takes an hour or more to make it. It's been a while since I’ve made them. I'm not sure if a few onions will be enough. It really shrinks. 5 large raw onions yield about 2 cups caramelized onions so you can gauge from there. http://ohmyveggies.com/how-to-caramelize-onions-perfectly/ I'll keep looking for that video. I want to have a look at it again myself!
That sounds good. I love dressings with apple cider vinegar. I'm confused about the apples though. Do you add them to the dressing? Chop them up? Purée them? Or are they part of the salad?
I actually haven't made them yet and I'm not going to tonight because I used french onion soup mix in my slow cooker with my roast, and my husband and I decided it would be too much onion. I am going to fry some stray veggies we have in the fridge as a side instead. I will definitely try the carmalized onions within the next week though - will keep in mind that I need at least 5. Why the heck do they shrink down so much? They must have a lot of water inside them already, I am assuming.
Just a simple tomato soup. Can of soup, some cream to thicken it up. Handful of elbow pasta, diced up frankfurter. It's my easy bestest yummy soup I make. So simple. So good though.
That sounds like my favorite old school poor food recipe. We always called it "American Chop Suey". Fry up onion and green pepper in a pan add a pound of hamburger, cook up a package of noodles or macaroni then mix it with one or two cans of tomato soup. If you want to dress it up a bit you can add a can of tomatoes. Another one we always used to make was "Tuna Noodle Casserole". One bag of noodles, one or two cans of tuna fish, and one or two cans of cream of mushroom soup. If you want to go fancy with it put it in a casserole dish with bread crumbs on top and bake it. Thanks. I'm going to try that, it sounds really good. I made another frittata for breakfast. This one was with mushrooms and tarragon, and I used Swiss cheese (no bacon in this one, I opted for kobassa on the side instead). It was good, but I liked the tomato basil frittata better. I found this one had too much umami flavour. Golden kiwi and wild blueberries rounded it out nicely.
Long grain wild rice with red beans, corn, green chilies and a teaspoon of garlic mixed in. Also had a salad with it.
I made Greek potatoes with new potatoes I dug tonight. Leftover manwiches and picked some cherry tomatoes to go with it all.
Veggie soup to use up a bunch of random things in my fridge before they went bad. I also didn't want anything heavy today after 2 days of cheesy pasta.
Yep. Today I had this fantastic Sicilian sausage sandwich from the Italian café, loaded with fried onions, roasted red peppers, marinated eggplant and spicy mayo. I'm sated for a week now!
