I’ve never been much of pancake person, I do eat them sometimes, especially if it’s some “fancy” ones. I used to despise oatmeal, I have memories from my childhood to being tortured to eat it and I just wouldn’t. I thought it looked like vomit and it was gross. I feel the same about cream of wheat, yuck. I still don’t eat that though. In Santo Domingo we had this one called Harina De Negrito, translation would be Pickaninny’s flour, see picture below. How I hated that thing.

I started eating oatmeal not too long ago, mostly because of its convenience and because it’s cheap, filling and healthy. I get the instant kind from Nature’s Path. I think the blueberry flax one is my favorite, but they have a couple of other good ones.

I want to make this: http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipe/apple-scented-breakfast-oatmeal-and-buckwheat

And throw in additional fruits, nuts, seed and spices. It seems kinda plain as it is.

The Nature’s Path Instant Oatmeal has 8g of sugar per serving, so it’s not too bad. I love sugar too. I have an uncontrollable sweet tooth. I would sometimes buy the Nature’s Path Original Instant Oatmeal. I think it was just the oats and some sea salt. I would either add a tiny bit of honey or eat it with a very ripe banana. I like using agave too.

I have cut almost all sugar out from my diet, with the exception of fruit sugar and the sugar which is the lactose in the milk I use to make my protein shakes, and I have noticed my cravings are almost non-existent, except maybe when I see something that looks good in a bakery or at the public market. But it never lasts any longer than the time I spend looking at the food. Sugar is literally toxic to the body, so that is why people would really benefit from cutting sugar out from their diet completely, even if they're relatively healthy. If the person is overweight, they are sure to lose a ton of that weight simply from dropping sugar alone. Sugar is one of the main reasons for the obesity epidemic. Actually, it's probably the number one reason. Many of these obese people you see drinking soda all day have the livers of an alcoholic. Fructose is as bad, if not worse than alcohol when it comes to damaging the liver, yet how many people are aware of that?

I guarantee that once a person cuts sugar out from their diet, their cravings become less and less intense over time, to the point you never even think of it at all.

Agave is probably the worst of the "natural" sweeteners from a health aspect.

Good article from Mercola about it.

Stevia is one of the better natural sugar alternatives. Depending on what it's used in, it can taste alright or pretty bad. It's in one of the protein powders I use, and it doesn't taste too bad.

Mercola is the man when it comes to non-mainstream information about natural health. Almost everything I know about healthy living comes from Joseph Mercola. I might not care for the way he pushes some of his products, but his information is SPOT ON!! I credit Mercola most in giving me the information I have used to turn my life around. Check out his videos on YouTube as well. Always very informative!!

Interesting! I didn’t know that. I use it rarely and in tiny amounts, so I’m not really concerned. I think I’ve purchased two 8oz bottles in the last 3 years? I like to use raw honey too and I’ve had the same jar for 8 months and it’s not even half way used. I only add certain sweeteners myself rarely, but there’s sugar on stuff I eat. I love pastries and it doesn’t help having friends who love to bake. I do think sugar is toxic and works like a drug, but I’m also ok with occasional consumption of it. I feel the same about it as I feel about alcohol, except that one is way easier to avoid since it’s not in everyyyything.

I’ve heard many good things about Stevia, but I never really tried it. Our friends are growing all sort of things in their backyard and Stevia is one of them. She gave me some to try from the plant and it tasted good, it reminded me of the taste of sugar cane; the actual sugar cane, not the processed juice or sugar from it.

Cool! I’ll check out more of it. My friend from work seems to love it and she’s probably the healthiest person in the office. She’s a nutritionist and she’s trying so hard to gain weight. I think it’s taken her a year to put on 10 pounds. I wish I had her problem lol

She needs a good whey protein powder. Four or five eggs a day probably wouldn't hurt, either.

I am fasting, so I haven't had anything since 8:00 last night (except water and coffee).

Yes, I had to make it known.
