Read, people watch. People watching at the beach is the best. Take a long walk, maybe go for a run if there arent a ton of people around. Maybe toss a football around. I dont really like to swim in the ocean, there were a couple of shark attacks at the beach I usually go to a couple of years ago and I havent really felt like going in the ocean since. And then this year there have been reports of portugese man of war (men of war?)at the same beach . The ocean is not my habitat
On Oregon beaches---never go in the water--too cold. So I just look for colored glass and cool looking rocks. In Hawaii, I body surfed some pretty big ones. I stopped when I saw a shark in a wave close to shore where I had been. In Florida , there was a nice little cove near the Jupiter inlet to the ocean where my kids could swim around. Saw a huge Manta Ray slowly cruise through the cove and back out to the intra-coastal.
Yeah, you're in bull shark territory. They're aggressive little suckers. White sharks get the bad reputation, but it's bull sharks that give me the willies.
You know, most folks don't know this shark fact. They are indeed more aggressive than the white. Do you dive ?? I'm asking because I was born in Miami Beach, Fl and spent a lot of time in the water. Either way very cool that you knew.
Dive, swim, surf...float. I've been in the water for most my life. And I'm a shark nut. But as an avid surfer, you kind of have to be. It helps to know what species are in the area, what their tendencies are, etc.
Exactly!! My passion was spear fishing. Only by way of skin diving, made it more sporting than using scuba. Your breath and stealth against the fish... I kinda miss it, but hey.....Diving, surfing, riding a 1000 pound animal, all make you feel very "alive"....
I do lots of things at the beach but never this even though I always have one in my bag because the only friends I have who will play with me live far away ;_;
I recently saw pics of a lady doing nude kite surfing. Did look like big fun, but i guess you have to be very skilled and trained.
As an ocean lover that you are, you are missing out. I"ve been diving all over So Florida, the Florida Keys. and a little in the Bahama's. The Bahama's was like swimming in Gin, magnificent scenery. If you every get a future opportunity, go for it.
Here’s something new. I watched a few adult baptisms going on by a local church. Thought that was pretty cool.
Florida Keys are not too shabby either. Spent a week there once sailing and snorkeling. Absolutely amazing.
The Florida Keys was always like a world within a world even being so close to Miami and the mainland. That's what made it the perfect "go to" place for surf, sun, booze....lol Seriously, I used to get a few lobsters at various spots along the way, Sooooooo many memories. Pier House resort, on the gulf side.....
