i think brookstone has them. or radio snack. i like the idea of anamatronic plushies. humans are, well, i just think non-primates, felids, vulpids, and mustalids, have better looking faces on average. they're (like a plushie with a robot inside of it) still kind of expensive, but some day they'll have applictions for animatronic plushies that will allow them to tutor and nannie, as well as companion.
Shit! Lea is the new American Girl...my color hair, my color hazel eyes and loves animals and photography...I am in real trouble now!
Even though i moved around a lot, I managed to collect 'stuff. I collected McCoy pottery and had quite a number of them, most being from the 30s, 40s, etc. I wish I had collected Roseville pottery, but they were (and I'm sure still are) very expensive. I have old framed pictures that are up on my walls now, most with an ocean theme. I once came across an OLD purse, probably from the end of the Art Nouveau period as Art Deco was coming to the fore. Looked like chain mail with silver clasps , etc. An old single blade razor with a beautiful curved silver case with flowers and vines in silver on both sides. Used to have salt and pepper shakers of myriad shapes and sizes. Got a beautiful barber chair once--it looked like something out of a Disney film with the seat surround scalloped in porcelain and the pedestal fluted. Sat in that baby 'till I sold it. I love antiquing and flea market browsing, but I ---at least when I was moving around---managed to give away most of my stuff to friends. It's amazing how much old stuff is still around. To add: I forgot my paperbacks. Dozens and dozens and I still give away whole sacks of books to others. Last sack went to a womans shelter over in Eugene. There is a St Vincent De Paul in Eugene that has a veritable library set up ---whomever set it up did a fantastic job and the paperbacks are 95 cents. HAPPY NEW YEAR, ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I used to collect old si fi books, I think I had just about one of everything put out in the 50's. But I got too many so I got rid of them. Then I was collecting Frisbees for awhile, but they started to get too many varieties and got too expensive so I got rid of most of them also. I had a few Pluto Platters: The official Player's book and Frisbee: Ball bearing centers, pipes, lighted ones, etc. Right now I still have tons of books and a collection of Freak Brothers Comics.
I wish I had kept my comics from the 40s-------Captain Marvel, Plastic man, Little Lulu, Superman, The Heap, Super Duck, etc. I do have a # 1 Zap and one of Zippy the Pinhead. ("am I president yet?"
I used to collect magazines as a teenager because I thought it would be neat to look through them decades later and see how styles have changed, but I can't stand clutter so tossed out my collection years ago. I do pick up a couple of things anytime I am outside, moss or flowers or rocks, and bring them inside, dry them out if needed, and incorporate them into my decor. I'm not sure if that counts as a collection. I am one of those who is really creeped out by dolls. My grandmother had several porcelain dolls my sister and I inherited from her but I heard a horror story about a murderous doll at a slumber party once and came home and put all the porcelain dolls in my mom's room where they still live today, watching her sleep with their cold glassy eyes. Creepy little things. I was obsessed with the American girl books as a child though.
When I was a teen I collected stamps and coins, mostly for the artwork and exotic places they were from. As a young adult I collected guns, had half a dozen pistols and 3 rifles. I guess, with about 800 DVDs, you could say that is what I collect now. I keep it at about that number, have cleaned out the collection periodically and gotten rid of a few hundred over the years. Other than that, I have a small library of books with nude and erotic pix. Mostly male nude studies.
Yes! About hmm 15 years ago or maybe more ever week fatherino and myself would always go out to pick up the takeaway food which usually fell on a Wednesday or Thursday. Usually Chinese too. And then we'd both walk into the newsagency and every week i would be allowed to buy a new one. I don't know where they all went but over the years I've had thoughts about buying them again. I'm not sure if they're still published? But on eBay they can be quite expensive. Just as I got back from America there was a big swap meet and I bought 4 or 5 of them. Few commandos and a couple others that were very similar but different brands. I can't remember where I put them.
Oh yeah--used to collect video tapes until the suckers changed everything to DVDs. Probably have 5 or 6 hundred in the attic.
Whenever i see a vhs in the store i joke and i pick it up all excited and i say to my girl "hey this must be that new vhs theyre bringing out" and then i laugh and laugh. Inside joke, really. :d
VHS tapes were really Expensive aswell And the Players were Ridiculously expensive when they first became available I myself threw Hundreds of Good films away When CD s came out Bet in years to come they become collectible
I have a shot glass collecton, mostly from trips, as well as a beer glass collection. I also seem to have amassed a lot of cool rocks and coins over the years even though I don't actively collect them.
I don't really have a collection to speak of... nothing official, but I do like to listen to a lot of music.
I should have known that format change is always on the horizon. Some are improvements and some are probably to induce spending on introduced products. Anyway--there's no shit movies in my tape collection--I have been a movie buff for years. Before V CRs, I rented movies from Hollywood and Chicago and showed them in a friends restaurant on certain days. Borrowed 2 Bell & Howell projectors and a screen from a school and put out show bills--(young?--forget knowing about show bills.)-----around town. Was fun. So, I'll keep the tapes and my kids can figure out what to do with 'em.
I do shot glasses too. They're the smallest easiest and coolest thing to collect while abroad. Better than magenta and smaller than a snow globe.
Yea magenta, autocorrect, because that's really an appropriate "oh shit she must have meant that instead of MAGNETS!"
