What is there to upgrade on weapons other than skins? And clothes... Hmm yeah I'll take a look around I might have to go to the big city, maybe they have better stores to shop at? I did buy some new boots the other day hehe.

I obviously haven't unlocked the how powered ammunition yet.

Oh and also, am I able to sell a gun I previously bought? I got the Rolling block rifle, but then I killed a guy with a rare version but I can't seem to even like show the gun store man like it's not in my list. It just has slightly better accuracy than my original version, but I don't want to have to flick through both of them in my menu. Actually I want a lot of weapons gone like the repeaters are basically useless to me now that I have a pump action and semi auto shotgun.

most of the weapons can upgrade their barrel and sites, which actually improves performance. have you bought all the camp upgrades already? and the weapon accessories (i forget what they are, like upgraded holsters or something), and the better saddles and stuff for the horse? and all those trinkets you can buy from the fence once you kill the legendary animals. you can also buy recipes from the fence, which are largely useless but a few of them are actually helpful. there's a bunch of other cosmetic stuff you can buy too, but i don't think any of it affects gameplay at all. oh, you can also buy better horses, although i don't think any are available that are better than what you can get for free until the end of the game.

i'm not sure about selling guns. i will say i'll never abandon my repeaters though; that's my primary weapon for most shootouts. 14 shots without a reload is crucial. i don't know if you do the challenges, but there's a couple where that 14 bullet clip is pretty much required.

I updated the camp. I bought the horse centre. I thought for 300 get a good stable, I don't even know what the hell it did? More posts in the dirt? Pff I cut more wood than that per week $300 :triumph:

You can't get rid of your bought guns. But when you're off your horse you have a limited selection with you, so less menu browsing. But yeah, I'm on my horse a lot too :p

i think if you abandon your horse somewhere in the wilderness it allows you to bring it back to camp. otherwise you would have to go to a stables to do it. not really that useful, but it may come in handy once or twice in the game.

i'm currently one perfect wolf pelt away from being able to craft the ultimate satchel. i've never even come close before. i'm not sure why i'm doing so much better at that this time around; i've made almost no actual effort toward hunting those pelts, i just keep stumbling across perfect specimens of the animals i need. so, when i'm done posting tonight i'm going to go out of my way to hunt a wolf. probably won't be able to find a damn one.

^ and that's how it happened. i wandered all over the snowy area, from place to place that i've been attacked by wolves in the past. not a wolf to be seen. so i said fuck it and killed the legendary bison instead, grabbed its pelt and started heading for the trapper. just as i was leaving the snow, suddenly 5 wolves popped up right in my path, coming at me full speed. i managed to shoot one in the head with a poison arrow, switch over to my lancaster repeater, and shoot one more before being bucked, then i got the other three from the ground before they had a chance to kill me. only got bitten once, and i shook that one off and shot it. and luckily, the one that i shot with the arrow was in fact a 3 star specimen, which i had not had time to check before killing it.

so long story short, i can carry a shit ton of every item now.

i'm not sure if you can buy bags that let you carry more. the ones i'm talking about, you get by giving specific animal pelts to pearson, and he can make them for you.

Extensive and quality hunting was one of the things i did not much at all during my overall very extensive playthrough of the storymode. Didn't collect a lot of hunting trinkets either. In online I wasn't that busy with it either, just shot some for meat, and sold the rest (pelts/antlers etc.) without concern myself about the quality.
Only now that i have my own trading business online I am getting into hunting for quality lol

^ it's only interesting to me if i actually get something out of it. and i don't mean some useless antlers at the scout fire at camp, i mean something that actually affects gameplay. so basically i like to hunt to upgrade the satchels and get all the trinkets, and then i'm done with it.

i don't bother selling pelts after the first couple missions. fuck your 45 cents, i'll just shoot some random traveler and loot them for that kind of money.

I can relate but I don't recall feeling the need for bigger satchels in singleplayer. A lot of the collector stuff seemed not worth the effort to me.

they're definitely not needed, but every once in a while they're nice. this is my third time playing it and the first time i got all the satchels, so you can definitely get through it fine without. but that's true in a lot of games; you do various sidequests that give your character minor improvements that you don't really need, but it's just enough motivation for me to actually do the sidequests anyway.

i don't care for the actual collector stuff at all (dinosaur bones, etc), but i do make a half-assed effort toward the challenges (zero chance that i'll actually finish all of them). big satchels do actually make a few of those easier.

i think my number one gameplay motivation for wanting bigger satchels is all those times i'm trying to loot a house or a chest or something and i can't pick anything up because the game insists on focusing on the one thing that i can't carry any more of.

Yeah, I did a lot of other sidequests, just not the collecting, hunting or fishing. Obviously you do a little if you explore most stuff in singleplayer: i collected a shitload of cigarette cards (yet completed nothing) :p

In online I can have 30 uncooked venison meat in my inventory, but I hunt for pelts and stuff, so now im trading i regularly get that message 'you collected the max. amount of these animal parts', something that rarely happened to me before lol. I'm not even cooking it anymore as i have plenty of cooked big game meat i never run out of. So now it feels real luxuorous and still kind of strange when I sell 30 venison meat to the butcher (but i just have to get rid of it) :p

I notice that when I play madden on my xbox, I can press pause then turn the xbox off, for days and as long as the main power isn't turned off, or the xbox or game needs a update, I can turn the xbox back on and, select madden and it just starts where I paused, no loading.

But in red dead when I turn the xbox off I have to go through the painful tedious worst loading wait in gaming history.

I visited the big city again and left within 5mins. :p

Also I had 5 drinks and wasn't drunk yet??

I went bounty hunting instead, but I got killed lol. I kinda suck at the fighting aspect sometimes. I know I need to use cover and all but he always runs to the wrong thing and its hopeless. I also shaved and I'm like oh ok wow that's what I look like again lol. :p

I went to the city again to drop off my bounty for 100$ then I went had a meal, few drinks, a bath and a sleep and then headed back for camp. :) saved a guy along the way too. As I passed through road I upgraded my rifles components for a smidgen of accuracy and added the super long scope to my rifle. For some reason I didn't think to upgrade my shotguns. Tomorrow's chore.
