I'm fairly certain it was pretty well known that on Friday nights when I was in high school, the movie theatre here was going to be packed with loud and rowdy high school kids, so if you weren't a teenager, you avoided Friday movies. I remember the one movie we went to was The Ring 2, but it was SO much fun, just how crazy the atmosphere was. Looking back on it, it would probably be REALLY annoying dealing with that now, but it was one of the greatest nights I've ever had.
according to my research, judith martin, aka miss manners, is still writing her newspaper column three times a week, as well as being a regular contributor to wowowow.com, a website for women to talk culture, politics, and gossip. i know a few asshole teenagers, and i know several really nice teenagers. i know a lot of asshole adults, and i know a lot more reasonable adults. also, i rarely go to the movies anymore, but i've been to plenty in my lifetime. i've never once run into the situation you describe. i've also never run into the famous "black people won't shut up in the theater" scenario either. open in 4 weeks: [show me your boobs] shut yer mooths, eh.
if it was just kidz i could understand that, because it takes a bit of living to realize thoughtlessness screws up one's own nest. but its old farts my own age too, who REALLY ought by now have figured out to know better.
