Actually, the Second Russian Revolution had already destroyed Russia basically before Stalin ever got near personal power. Stalin merely followed on from there. So, why is the only good Russian a dead Russian? lol.
In my opinion , it would of never happened . And if it did would have been a huge Russian blunder and defeat . Great Britain , had air and sea superiority . The Russian navy was no match . They had old world war one ships , little ww2 era cruisers and destroyers and some torpedo boats . No carriers . They were at least 50 years behind in ww2 . They relied on manpower , massive infrantry engagements . Their industrial resources were behind so much even their ground troop armies were going without . Their airforce had some good planes , but again production of planes was bad . In the opening days of ww2 G.B. destroyed almost 3000 Rus. planes who were on the ground . I think by the end of the war they were pumping out about 1,000 Rus. aircraft a month , to little to late . It got so bad their bombers were running without fighter escorts . So to "invade " G.B. an island they would have had to come by sea at some point . Either all the way from Russia , or after invading three other countries come across the English channel . A death sentance . They would of been sunk and bombed back to Russia . Because of the natural water barrier around G.B. . I don't see how it could of happened . Without any carriers , there bombers what ever they had left of would of been out of range and easy prey without fighter escorts . Without naval big gun artillary to pound the shit out of the G.B. coast line making an land invasion force possible , I just don't see it . Even if they made it through land to France or the Neth. to end up at the water in a bottleneck their supply lines would have been cut by sea and air from the R.N. and land from Russian occupied resistance countries . Even Germany never tried a land invasion . Long gun and bombers yeah , never troops .
This is some years later, but interesting, today my friend had sent to me this. I remember I had seen a Thread of this title, and thought to share. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-1104459/What-Russians-HAD-invaded-us.html
Hold on now Koryssa , you're talking about 30 years ago . I was talking about right after ww2 . Big difference , again apples and oranges . Soviet military technology advances from ww2 to the cold war into the 1980s when this paper is from is a night and day difference . The article you mentioned also didn't mention the immeadate , swift involvement of the United States into the theater had the United Kingdom been attacked in their homeland by Russia in the 1980s . Nor the very real threat of nuclear war . I can assure you even if G.B.'s defence were lacking at the time America's was not . Todays war have the potential to be end game . It would be a VERY dangerous move by any super power to "invade" another in the 80s or today .
Yes, it also is why I say in the post, it is some years later. I thought, it is similar topic, just it would be interesting to share.
Yes it was interesting , and I enjoyed reading it . And i'm not doubting it at all . I was talking about if this happened in ww2 or just after .
Assuming they overran the place. My opinion: Men would be forced to be stronger, women more submissive. Disagreements would be between men and the law would sometimes stay out of it. A man who drinks with his friends would be respected solely for that, whoever he was. Though arguments would still happen more, they would not be arguments which stuck in your craw.. They would be less to remember. Work ethic would be greater the belief, this would gain you more respect internal than now. Though building more to export would be critical. Superstition would have changed in its nature and we would ponder other beliefs we had not for a while. Though as you may notice, I am believing the 'gangster' persona as more reality than it is, due to watching too many movies and knowing not much about true mother Russia. (though if a place has been overrun, maybe it gets like that?) On the plus side brotherhood and drive would breed ignorance about lesser issues more, especially given the Russians would have had to make good thier attempts to build a better place. On the negative side, we would be presented with our ancestors slave trade vessel building more as a demoralising tactic towards our own betterment, which I am almost certain could be dug up as truth, though how significant I do not know. (a softer thought for you than what acually would be here)
