Oh well done dear I think you’ve got it, it’s called redistribution, governments and government bodies do it as well, did you think the NHS was paid for by the fairies? Now in the case of Merseyside for example it received money from the EU through a particular scheme

Objective 1i Programme operates within areas of most need and supports the development of regions that are significantly falling behind the rest of Europe.

Now the Out politicians claimed in the campaigning period that they will match such spending but since many of them come from right wing ideologies opposed to such redistribution (preferring tax cuts that mainly help wealth) I’m unsure that will come about.

The grants to Merseyside, that's a joke, turning beautiful buildings into student accommodation, building new hospitals that will only last 50 years max, leaving parts of Liverpool that are so run down, to immigrant families, been to Kensington lately?
The wrong grants, to the wrong places, sorry, but get the right sentiment!

    Why?

In what way is it a joke?

    What buildings?

I don’t think I’ve mentioned EU funding of student accommodation there?

    Which hospitals?

I don’t think I’ve mentioned EU funding of hospitals in the area?

    Can you explain?

There are lot of rundown areas, how is the removal of grants from regions with such areas meant to improve things?

Why wrong and what sentiment are you talking about?

Give me a dollar figure on how much more or less would have been invested in those projects had England never been an EU member

Give me a ratio of all the funds going out of England to fund infrastructure in other EU countries compared to what actually comes back to England (Even your own government would only be able to give a ball park figure on that)

These are rhetorical questions, as I already know the answer; no one really has any idea, do they

I can only deal in reality of what did happen and I pointed out the beneficial things the EU did do or help to do in the UK beyond the question of trade.

You seem to be saying you don’t want to look at that reality preferring to think about what might have been in some fantasy world of your own?

The fact is the EU did a lot of good things for the British people the problem was that it never really got advertised the right wing media that often dominates the agenda in the UK always shouted loudly about any failings it saw and maliciously lied about it, a constant drip drip drip of poison.

While the right wing party that often dominate in the UK had two wings one very anti-europe and one not so but the not so’s didn’t want to upset the anti’s, so they kept quite about the benefits or even joined in on the EU bashing.

So really it’s not surprising that a right winger like Rat began this thread
