Ok give me your scientific references.Humans have been consuming saturated fats for eons but it was only in the 1930's when margarine started to take off that myocardial infarction became a problem. You do realise that the theory about cholesterol is based on feeding it to rabbits! We are constantly reminded about the dangers of cholesterol in order to sell cholesterol lowering statin class medications that are an extremely profitable product for the pharmaceutical companies in that they cost very little to produce but at least in Oz are subsidised by the government. Another case of corporate welfare. In Oz, statin drugs prescriptions are capped @ $28/month, but the true cost depending on dosage is up to $100/month.There have been many statin drugs over the last four decades, many have been withdrawn after making many people ill or sometimes killing people. There is no credible evidence that I am aware of that statin drugs are of any benifit to anyone's health. I have no intention of ever going on statin medications. The fact that so many statin drugs have been withdrawn only shows in my eyes that cholesterol is not the toxic substace itis made out to be. BTW these statin drugs are always proved to be "safe" by testing on rabbits!
That is why I am on a wholefood diet.

i'm with bilby on this one. saturated fat is no where near as bad for you as trans fat, which (amazingly) both lowers HDL levels ("good cholesterol") and increases LDL levels ("bad cholesterol"). bah. stick with the unsaturated fats =)
