I'd love to see Kang do a celeb duet with Yo Yo Ma!

Illmaeo, did you check out any of the painters? three of us were on the north side (Scramble down low, Paul and I up a couple planters) and one guy was on the south side. Never did find him except heading for the loo in the visitors center!

I loved Taj Mahal Trio, too. the hearts on sticks with angel wings made it into the painting.

NOTICE: if you are ever in Colorado venues and see a redheaded woman painting come intro yourselves!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, is Trees still a jam draw?

this was my first SCI show:
5/15/1998 Curtain Club - Dallas, TX (Fri.)
Set 1: Born on the Wrong Planet, Voodoo Chile > Jam > Handsome Molly, Stingray, Resume Man > Hey Pocky Way, Pirates > Amazing Grace Jam > On the Road
Set 2: How Mountain Girls Can Love, Round the Wheel, Howlin' at the Moon, Jellyfish¹ > Jam² > Blue Bossa > Drums > Johnny Cash
Encore: Big Sciota, Walk This Way

Guests: ¹ with Keller Williams on mouth flugel (including Tequila tease)

Notes: ² with Another Brick in the Wall verses

Encore preceeded by Nershi singing parts of New York, New York in honor of Frank Sinatra who passed away that day.

Opening Act and Tweener Set: Keller Williams

yes I did check out the painters. In fact, in my fungus induced state on saturday, I was rather entranced with the whole thing so I'm sure at one time or another I was standing over your shoulder admiring your work! Live painting is absolutely one of my favorite things to watch. I am very artistically inclined, but all of my talent is concentrated in the music side of art. I think because of this, I love painting/drawing/ceramics/ etc. so incredibly much.

Trees closed down almost a year ago. Sad, sad day. My city has been on the slippery slope to the shitter for a while now. The bridges over Good Latimer (the ones with all the graffiti art) are being destroyed right now to make way for a DART station. One the positive side of things, everyone goes to Gyspy Tea Room or the Granada, which is the best venue in Dallas, hands down. Have you seen any shows there? It's beautiful and has an amazing sound system. Only problem is you can't smoke in there.

I'm moving out of Dallas on Thanksgiving, thank jah. I'll probably be passing through Colorado (got to visit some friends in Denver and Boulder) sometime in December. I'm thinking of going to YMSB's NYE show at the Fillmore. You gonna be there?

Lets see some acts step up? Should the fans have to coddle groups until they are ready to explode? You gotta a jam band friend, I am positive. Go to their show and dance. You wouldnt believe how fucking contagious that is. They will get bigger because of you.

LOL I used to do Rocky Horror at the Granada when it first reopened as a cine-pub in 198---nevermind.
I know Keller loved the Gypsy, he talked about the place a lot.
All Denver venues are non smoking- state law.
I was the red headed female painter. I forgot that my son painted a piece and gave it to some drunk who chattered with him for a while, so five painters!
I'd like to see YMSB, but the Fillmore is ..awkward. A venue should not have 27 places to buy beer and only 4 to get rid of it!
Do come to Cervantes' for the late night with New Monsoon/ HBRSB.
    I'll be painting.

I paint because the only instruments that like me are drums, and sometimes you need to document a different flow.

where is Cervantes? and I'm not that good with acronyms.... who is HBRSB? I saw New Monsoon last time they came through Dallas and I liked it alright. Didn't dig their CD nearly as much though.

when i was at the cheese show at the rocks there was a band driving around the parking lot playing bluegrass (or "guerilla grass" as they called it) named Oakhurst. Have you listened to them? I'm pretty certain they are from the boulder area. I definitely didn't get to hear enough to decide what I thought, but it did pique my interest.

Oakhurst is pretty good, they're from denver. (sorry, a little off topic)
    - to the original question - I don't think the Jamband scene will disipate anytime soon, but it definatly will evolve. Hopefully many of the bands we listen to will continue to play in years to come, but new bands and music will come that is different. in the generations to come there will be new kinds of music. will there be jambands? I think so, but I think that the current "scene" will evolve and change, but thats a good thing.

People are trying to keep it alive and I really think its working. The lead singer from Phish is still going strong. Dave Matthews and even John Mayer in sort of a way. Dont worrry. It will stay strong. Of course there are also people like me who look to be in or are already in a jam band. Dont worry. Its good, fun music. It wont die. Jerry made sure of that before he left.

    Hot
    Buttered
    Rum
    String
    Band

and yes, NM's discs leave a lot to be desired. I have them to provide the boys with gas money. I have a LOT of those.

Cervantes' is in Denver's Five Points, an historically black area mentioned in On the Road (lil' trivia) and basically the cradle of Jazz for the West. 27th and Welton.
Sister bars are Quixote's True Blue (next door), Sancho's (on Colfax at Clarkson, across Clarkson from the Denver Fillmore, and Dulcinea's (two doors from Fillmore. A porn palace is in between.
All run by the same guys. all Deadheads.
