did/do you guys realate to what patrick swayze's character taught in donnie darko? im just curious because every time i hear fear and love used as two polar ends of a spectrum im reminded of that movie.
well the idea of reality being subjective raises a very interesting idea. if for example i was to say that enlightenment leads us in the path of love -- which i do beleive -- then someone else might say that enlightenment leads us in a path entirely perpendicular to love. because well who is to say which path is correct. now some might say that there are just a certain amount of universal truths, but why should they be any more malleable than the physical reality which we embody now? they are objective, and so is physical reality. so you know really i guess there is an infinite number of paths we could take, and we just choose the one we like best. do all the paths lead to the same place? well that again is objective, and cannot be the case if reality is truly subjective. its almost like the idea of objectivity is so engrained into ourselves that even our trancendental ideas which claim to transcend the idea of objectivity are shaped by that which they claim to transcend -- objectivity.
Fuck fuck fuck my post just got lost. Dam it was long too..ill try to rewrite it I pretty much agree with you desos. Reality is really whatever you percieve it to be. Through what you do and how you think and feel ect. Reality for my dog is a combination of familiar smells tastes and feelings since shes blind as a bat and def. The reality bubble for most of us here is much bigger tho. Ultimitaly i think we have to look to the future to find the anwser. Mankind is destined for outter space and unity through love. And we'll be practically gods. Imagine smoking a blunt at the center of the galaxy! Ever seen the movie phenomonon? All the things he can do in that movie have already been proven to be possible, speed reading, photographic and computer like memory, telepathy, clarvoience and all that other stuff, except maybe telekenesis. Also what was interesting was how he mentioned the biggest organism was actually a tree orchand thats roots were all connected underground and they never knew. Its the same way for us. Eventually we'll probably work as some sort of group mind maybe. Imagine a thousand years from now! or a million! Eventually all this will be possible and prolly much more if we couldt actually use these psychedelics to speed up our evolution and get rid of this money system and gov altogether. Shit i lost my train of thought idk what im talking about anymore. hmm idk i guess eventually we will be able to trancend out of this dimension altogether, hell we already can, just smoke dmt. "The world is like a ride at an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it, you think that it's real, because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills, and it's very brightly coloured, and it's very loud and it's fun for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they begin to question: is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us. They say "Hey! Don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because, this is just a ride." And we... kill those people. Ha ha ha. "Shut him up! We have a lot invested in this ride. Shut him up! Look at my furrows of worry. Look at my big bank account and family. This just has to be real." It's just a ride. But we always kill those good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that? And let the demons run amok. But it doesn't matter because it's just a ride. And we can change it anytime we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings and money. A choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourselves off. The eyes of love, instead, see all of us as one. Here's what you can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money that we spend on weapons and defence each year and instead spend it feeding, clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, for ever, in peace." "Today, a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration — that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There's no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we're the imagination of ourselves." Bill Hicks was the man
no man, not a wheel, it's a torus imploding on itself, a dual torus but anways. I share the opinion of Anton Wilson on this one. "Reality is what you can get away with" "Whatever the thinker thinks, the prover proves"
lol some of you need to put that methamphetamine pipe down, and get a grip on reality, which ever you choose. reality is completely subjective, except for God's thoughts, which are mathematical universal truths. facts. Life is a whole other story, but 1+1=2, and the same way , and they will be true no matter how many grams of mushrooms you eat or how many bullets you put in your head. equaled negative one 13 billion years ago and will still equal negative one in 13 billion years. even when humanity is gone.
i mean i agree, i really do...perhaps you dont agree with how i feel about how it continues on but i agree... in high school i had teh same teacher for both physicis and chemistry, in her room she had a Garfield poster that read "stuff (i prefer shit) happens when you party naked" sht happens any time at all so i feel this for sure (along with my first post in this thread)
the crazy part is even today in the milky way on earth in the '1st world' in the western 'year' '2009' we know of situations where 1+1 =/= 2 so imagine everything outside mathematics make everything else in this world look like the most ephermeral sneeze of a gnat and yet mathematics itself is the fart of a butterfly and 'god' can be found in the fumes of a sulphur puddle nothing can be used as a measuring stick nothing
so in our lives nothing is real? a perceived reality does not exist? i mean i can feel that? but at the same ime what do we experience? what is our perception? is it a diluded version of turht? what is it? how can truth (that doesnt fit every plane of existence be a truth??
I did not mean 'nothing exists', rather i meant the opposite. Anything you could possibly imagine exists, and things that you are not even capable of imagining exist as well, all around us, on the tip of your own nose. What is it that is experiencing the reality which is being doubted? What is doing the perceiving?
what reality is will never be seen, because it can never be precieved, once we perceive it we put our on subjective view on it, and it becomes what we make of it. the true form of life is a mystery in its own. their are many paths on the road of life. love is the winning path. god is winning right now, he has evolved far enough already so to us he seems like perfect love. we can choose any path we want, but if we want to return to the source, we must become love. if you do not learn to love in a certain point in evolution of your soul you will be terminated from the system completely. your soul will vanish. but that will not be determined for many lifetimes to come.
