I only use herbal toothpaste! Yeah! I don't know how people use all that commercial toothpaste full of chemicals... they always make my teeth really sensitive and painful.

I can't use the chemical pastes, anymore. I went herbal and tried to go back and I actually got sick... Freaked me out. I use Tom's of Maine anise-flavor. I let my fiance try it and almost lost it to him because he liked it so much better than the crap he uses. :D
The only thing is that it uses baking soda, which has a tendency to make my teeth a little sensitive. I might have to go back to the aloe toothpaste I was using. Never had a problem with it. I think it was Kiss My Face...?

    Ugh, you're one of THOSE...

I have been using Crest since my time began and I can still swish Ice water in my mouth after eating a hot lunch. Teeth are in pretty damn good shape.

i put a lot of that in the same box as all those people who claim to have sensitive skin but really just have dry skin that they wash too much in too hot water. joey has sensitive skin for real and now i don't bitch about it. my mother has sensitive teeth so i never bitched about them in the first place.

if you wanna use non-chemical pastes, use them with pride. nobody's business but your own. even if you do or don't have sensitive teeth.

Yes right on! I use that kiss my face aloe actually as I said way earlier in the thread. But it has sodium lauryl sarcostinate which is a nasty chem I need to get some other kind of toothpaste sometime.

there's always good ol' baking soda and a hydrogen peroxide rinse. yeah, they're both chemicals, but they're old school chemicals and people have used them effectively for generations.

Yeah I used baking soda a bunch before, doesn't really clean my teeth well enough.

i wonder if there are recipes for making your own tooth pastes/powders. so you know for sure what's going in it, how much AND you aren't paying for packaging.

Just look on the back of one of those natural toothpastes, then you got to get all those ingredients, shouldn't be very hard at all once you have everything.

Thats not my reasoning for not using em. I have researched these chems that are in toothpaste and they are just bad news. Your mouth actually absorbs everything that goes in it, so thats why it's fucked.

I have many reasons.... first of all, I am studying herbal medicine, so obviously it is something I strongly believe in and I try to use only all natural products. But my teeth becoming sensitive was what first jump started me and got me to switch.

Yeah, I have no problems with those, it's mainly all the weird additives in commercial brands that most people don't even know what they are. Also, they are just so overly sweet tasting that my teeth don't even feel clean when I use something like Crest.

And you are right KC, you can totally make your own. I'll probably try it someday.

Thats funny "old school chemicals", not as bad as the new ones.

    New and improved chemicals.

i can respect that, because i respect you a great deal. if YOU say you have sensitive teeth, i believe you.seeing you defending a choice you've made that requires no defending at all chafes a little. i kinda look up to you. i think you're badass. if you don't wanna use toothpastes with chemicals in it, who cares?

i'm also really moody, tired and erratic today. this comes off as aggressive and maudlin. cant help it. tell me to hush up anytime.

I hear mud works really well. It has all the herbs and spices one needs for proper dental hygiene.
