Meanwhile, Hillary claims that klansman and white supremacist Robert Byrd was a role model to her. Looks like we're fucked either way
Robert Byrd was a member of the KKK in the 40s and was Exalted Cyclops circa 1944, but by 1952 he quit. In his autobiography he stated he "was sorely afflicted with tunnel vision — a jejune and immature outlook — seeing only what I wanted to see because I thought the Klan could provide an outlet for my talents and ambitions."[24] Byrd also said, in 2005, "I know now I was wrong. Intolerance had no place in America. I apologized a thousand times ... and I don't mind apologizing over and over again. I can't erase what happened."[13]
Trumpy is not sexist or racist. He loves Mexicans and just wants to build a wall so they can spray paint it from their side of the border. He wants to nuke all the Middle East, because he loves Muslims and wants to help them get to heaven as quickly as he can. He is a very loving person. Just ask Miss Argentina, Miss Kazakstan, MIss Latvia, Miss Ukraine, and Miss Truckstop.
Oddly enough David Duke supported Obama as well. Though for very different reasons. His kind, former klan but now "reformed", openly gripe about how the US government has turned their back on him and his ilk. They saw Obama as a way to teach the nation a lesson and applauded his easy win, especially pulling the race card on the Clintons. The thing is though, just because David Duke "likes" a candidate doesn't make that candidate automatically in league with him. If that were the case, we'd see a lot of that sort of thing. Though in practical terms it was used to great effect on Eric Cantor. He's gone! No, I think the Hitler thing is just childish mud slinging with no basis in reality. Just like all the claims that he's a "racist".
And you know, people who crash Hillary events get thrown out as well. Most of these rallies are held at privately secured venues, so they can invite who they want and exclude who they want. They paid for that right. So anyone, even a t-shirt-wearing malcontent who skirts the rules to make a point, can be kicked out. As for his appreciation of women, I'd have to look at his staff makeup to form an opinion on his actual status as a genuine sexist. But again, just being a man opens me up to being labeled as a sexist, so my perspective is likely to be skewed. What I find most disturbing is the obvious hate being directed at not only Trump, but random supporters. No, it's NOT ok to attack someone because they vote differently from you. That is NOT how Americans act. Consider who is influencing all this shit. And where are all those violent republicans protesting and disrupting Hillary rallies? I scour the press and find nothing.
Good of him to denounce and apologize, sure. But the KKK is like a felony. Once you have that mark, it doesn't go away. Nobody is rushing to forgive David Duke or Don Black and they both quit the klan and turned their backs. Byrd was one of the last of the Dixiecrats, a group perpetually mired in contradictions and hypocrisy. Look at all the shit he talked Teddy into doing. Byrd shouldn't have been in office beyond the 50s. But he knew how to work a white crowd and get lots of white votes, so his stink reined for decades.
Apparently you've never been to West Virginia. There are almost no black people there. Racial issues are not a big deal there. Black people hate long, cold, mountain winters, and they don't mine coal because they can't trust their white coworkers. There seems to be a few employed by the railroads, and that's about it. Byrd was the ultimate master of creative budgeting, sneaking projects for WV into all kinds of federal bills. WV has some of the best state parks in America, mostly paid for out of federal funds. Local voters loved him for bringing home the bacon. That's what the second half of his career was all about.
I lived there for a year, it was the perfect petri dish for Byrd's kind of pandering. And yes, I was all too aware of the federal boondoggles he dragged back to the cave. Like that squadron of air force cargo planes in Charleston, nowhere near any cargo hubs. Actually I was living there when I got back on Hippy.com and then Hip Forums. I used the chat room back then when you didn't have to register to keep prying IT eyes off my shit. I liked Charleston though I disliked the foul air in the Chemical Valley. Those industries benefited from exemptions to clean air laws fought for by, you guessed it, Robert Byrd. I saw Manchin on his Harley a few times as I used to jog around Charleston in the evenings. I was there when they opened the baseball stadium downtown and the local republicans boycotted it. It was only minor league and most of the players were imported draftees, but every game night was a party. When you leave the city and go into the hills, you see a very different place, but that's true in Georgia and upstate NY as well. I also got very good weed in Charleston. I lived in a hotel near the river for a year, flying home every weekend. I have never seen Charleston on a weekend!
Well I suppose to the simple minded who actually believe Mexican and Muslim are "races" and not etnicities. Trump is a racist bastard.
Ah, Charleston is much different from the rest of the state. More diversity in the city, but not enough to sway elections. Downtown and the riverfront look nice. First place I ever saw fast food in urban storefronts. You know why the capitol dome is gold plated? Because the toxic air will eat any other kind of metal. Once you get east of coal country, the rest of the state is quite nice; very much like adjoining parts of Virginia and Maryland. Clean and green. Whitewater rivers, national forest land, dirt roads that pass no houses. Trump would hate it. Most voters don't give a shit about anything that happened before they were born. Byrd was reelected many times by voters who had no knowledge of what he did in the 1950's.
Let's be clear that while Duke left the KKK, he then formed the "National Association for the Advancement of White People", considered by many to be a white supremacist organization. Don Black formed "Stormfront", which is the leading internet forum dedicated to white supremacy. He is also a convicted felon and was an American Nazi (National Socialist White Peoples' Party). Comparing Byrd to those two may be disingenuous.
Hah, indeed. No I was only comparing the concept of supposedly shedding your klan roots. It's a tainted fruit either way. I doubt Byrd would have hung in there so long if he had been from Alabama, the Carolinas or Tennessee. When you think of how WV came into being (and wasn't named Vandalia), by taking advantage of the Virginia commonwealth charter regarding war against the US and then remaining neutral, you'd think something like the KKK wouldn't get much traction even during their salad days. That's where my understanding of WV drops off. Perhaps the coal wars made it easy for an alternative to unions, but that's me speculating. As for Don Black, I remember him from an attempted coup on a Caribbean island in the early 80s. I was in Hawaii at the time and when you're out at sea a lot, you read everything. That one stuck in my mind. The idea of trying to steal an existing island seemed insane and inspired in a pirate kind of way. It was later that I learned it was a disorganized bunch of klan losers. I used to go to THAT site more often because they occasionally caught news other sites didn't touch. But too often it was just a link to some other narrow fake news site or Alex Jones or that bald loser in Memphis. One bit of justice I see though is that all of these guys cashing in on "white supremacy" like Black and Edwards is that they barely make it to middle class!
Getting federal money has always been a big deal in WV because most of their economy is based on out of state corporations exploiting their natural resources, giving the state little in return. Also, the other states you mentioned have substantial black populations. I can't imagine what the KKK in WV spent its time doing. It had almost nobody to oppress.
That's just it though, from what I have gathered it seems the KKK harassed far more white people than black. Though they are on par for the most part with lynchings and murdered just as many white people as black. I doubt there's any count of the people they battered before running away and hiding. This is why most of the US population wanted nothing to do with them. They were a disgusting gaggle of disconnected ambush gangs. Not unlike these assholes running around playing the "Knockout Game" (I know, it's a "myth", but Worldstarhiphop makes it seem So real). I still fail to see any association with Trump. If you said mafia, maybe, but the KKK? Laughable!
They've never endorsed a mainstream candidate before. Every other election, the public has emphatically rejected the KKK choice.
In this day and age such an endorsement won't carry any REAL weight unless Trump accepts it with open arms. Imagine the stink if someone manages to get klan money into one of Trump's operations. Only, there is no Klan money. Their endorsement is no more relevant than that from disenfranchised felons. And who would take "Felons for Trump" seriously?
Wrong again multi eyed, Mexicans call themselves La Raza, meaning The Race. I don't want to get into the history behind that today. Muslims, like Jews, call themselves Semites, a seperate race, branched off Caucasian, who are a race of people from the Caucus Mountains in Asia.
