If that means Jehovah's Witness, I'm sure not! I'm a progressive Christian, and have much more in common with the mainline Protestant churches, especially Marcus Borg and the Jesus Seminar.
How can you be sure of the date? Were you there when they were made? Or know someone who was? Personally, I don't know any method of dating that isn't capable of a wide margin of error, usually in the millions of years. So maybe the drawing was done last week or a million years ago.
Were you or any Creationist you know there when Eve handed Adam the fruit? By our best dating methods, Neanderthals were occupying caves in France 65,000 years ago. Cro Magnons were occupying them 30,000 years ago. Most geologists, paleontologists and historians think humans were practicing agriculture by 10,000 BCE., and that the first cities appeared in Mesopotamia between 6300 and 5,450 years ago. The dating methods seem reasonable. Isochron dating methods seem to avoid objections which Young Earth Creationists raised to radiocarbon techniques. A margin of error of about 1 million years? What Young Earth Creationist website did that come from? What alternative dating methods were used to arrive at a date of 6,000-10,000 years ago for the beginning of the human race? Of course, any fact can be disputed if you really put your mind to it. The Flat Earth Society has shown how we've all been duped by those moon landing photos cooked up in the backlot of Universal Studios.
You are right. I can't be 100% sure of the date. I'm willing to change my stance based on new evidence. Are you? Science and religion don't mix.
Hate to nit pick but although I believe in creation, I'm not a Creationist nor are any of my friends. As for anyone who believed in creation being there when Eve handed Adam the apple, yes both Adam and Eve believed in creation. Yes, you caught me, the millions years was a bit of hyperbole but have you ever noticed that when these dates are given it’s never 11,590 years ago it’s almost always rounded to the nearest 10,000 years and usually given a spread like 10,000 to 20,000 years ago? That is until you get to the 5,000 to 6,000 years ago range and then things get a little more precise. As for Isochron dating, Wikipedia says that: Isochron dating is useful in the determination of the age of igneous rocks, which have their initial origin in the cooling of liquid magma. Which means it might be useful for dating igneous rocks but not very useful in dating when cave paintings were done. In any case not being a “Creationist”, I don’t believe the Earth itself is only 6000 years old but seeing as the Bible doesn’t say when the Earth was created; it could have been 6,000 years, millions of years or Billions of years ago. As for; “What alternative dating methods were used to arrive at a date of 6,000-10,000 years ago for the beginning of the human race?”. The Bible has a traceable genealogic timeline from Adam and Eve to Jesus which sets mankind’s time on earth at about 6,000 years.
New evidence? My evidence is the Bible and any changes in it are going to be slight if any but yes if there is reason to believe that God has made additions to the Bible then I am willing to change. As for science and religion not mixing, true science and true religion mix perfectly.
I found this similarity between the Babylonian and Genesis flood stories intereting. In the Babylonian or Sumerian story, there were ten kings who lived very long lives from creation to the time of the flood. This is given as a total of 432,000 years. In the Biblical account, there were ten patriarchs between Adam and Noah, who also lived long lives. Noah was 600 years old at the time of the landing of the Ark on the mountains of Ararat (in present day Turkey). The total years add up to 1,656. In 1,656 years, there are 86,400 weeks, and half that number is 43,200. There are also 86,400 seconds in 24 hours. So the ages in the bible seem to correspond with a cycle of time.
Well... no, it does not have a 'traceable' geneology because in that geneology contain people that are only mentioned in the bible (persons that have no historical context or mention other than the Hebrew texts). This does not classify as 'traceable'. Further, the bible has conflicting geneologies depending on which gospel you read, making any attempt to put a date specious at best.

You know OWB you never did get around to givin' me some answers to my questions asked awhile back. Why not? I'm still wanting to get em from you
I know, Sorry but I'm still trying to figure it out how to do it with out telling you my whole life story. Between my path winding though both Eastern and Western religions and for a while just making up my own religion, it's just not a short story. :willy_nilly:
