Yeh but we don't ask to be born or sign some kind of contract. It's our hair. What kind of insult is it to your child to not even trust him/her with their hair? What does that say about their opinion of our capability to do anything else? (and that doesn't reflect on our upbringing any better than some slightly messy hair). Argh. It's so fucking stupid! Grr. Ok I shush now.
soooooo youre 16 and can drive, but you cant get dreads. you can be trusted to drive a beast that could kill... but cant be trusted to change yer hairstyle. fucked up much? tell yer mum to fuckin do one,
Your in your teens, this is the only time in your life where your life where your smarter than your parents. You gotta realise that there is nothing she can actually do legally. Im pretty sure "at least it is the way here" that in the eyes of the law your an adult at 16, your old enough to make your own mistakes. How often do you go out with your parents? if its once a month tell her you will buy a nice hat so she doesnt have to be arounnd it, after that its you that has to deal with it. I can tell you right now the only people in my life giving me crap about my hair is my family, they think its stupid, funny, makes me look like a fool etc etc... and i have to hear some comment about it every day. I dont know what it is about families but they love their kids to be "Normal," Try telling her bout all the responsible things you do, if you dont drink, smoke, do drugs etc, make her understand how your smart enough to make responsble decisions and if your hair doesnt work out you will cut it yourself
Surely you're around that time where you have to choose a university course and the path your life will take? I guess your parents will have to decide that for you too if they don't think you can take responsibility for your own body parts.
ahhhhhhhhhhhh so glad to not be a teenager anymore. I had this same shit when I was 17 sporting a mohawk. My family was more "well what will the neighbors think" kinda shit. But for real...man you only have a year to go. When it comes to my own kids I dont interfere in the way they choose to express themselves...but I do have rules, and they do have to oblige until they move the hell out. Its for the good of the child to have some rules and boundaries. It is our job as parents to prepare them for the real world. My rule is to choose my battles carefully.....hair...not such a big deal!
yea there are def more important aspects of a teens life than hair. have a nice sit down with her and explain that to her. do somethin special for her, take her out for lunch or somethin. moms love that shit.
Yes moms do. Also try to make valid points. The storming around "I hate you, you are trying to ruin my life, you're an idiot, I didn't ask to be born" kind of kills the whole thing. Just shows your lack of maturity and judgement. If she is concerned about future endeavours like college, employment, ....just tell her you want to give it a go and if it does hinder your abilities at all you are smart enough to cut them off. Even if that last line is bullshit....man more bees with honey...thats my motto!!!!
my parents did the same thing when i was your age. i refused to cut it and it ended up getting around a foot long.
yeh my moms being a bitch. as i expected, today i kept saying no and she said if its not cut when she gets back im grounded or something and shes taking my car away. and then she said ill be riding the bus all next week sooooo i guess im riding the bus. Fuck her, i mise well get dreads with this hair, what else would she do? im already gettin dumb shit because i have long hair so i doubt shes gonna make it any worse.
yeah i dont really care about riding the bus. maby i will. idc. but only bad thing is i have to get up earlier. and not being able to drive would suck because then my mom would just say ohhh im not driving you. Ill ride my goddamn bike!!!! (maby) I wonder why shes making up all different punishments. first - beat yer ass, second cut it in your sleep, third - take your car. lol she said she was gonna cut it in my sleep and i was like yeah well then so will i (as in cut her hair) what a bad idea for an attack at me when i know where she sleeps, and she does it alot. and at the bus, i really dont care about it i probably would enjoy it. then i get to talk with some people i know. but it takes longer to get home and have to get up half an hour eariler when i barley get any sleep as it is.
you be the baddest dread sporting dude riding the bus so more power to you. Don't challenge your mother though, just wear a lockable helmet in your sleep, then she cant cut anything
lol. i seriously thought about it but i dont think she would do it, thats why she said she would ground me after that.
for one, do you even know the first thing about garvey philosophy? or howell philosophy? have you read the kebra negast or the piby? listening to marley and smoking weed doesn't make you a rasta for two, a real rasta would overstand the bigger picture which is raspect for parental authority and livity. not just saying waaa mama wont let me have dreads so fuck her jeez kid :cheers2:
