Are you kidding? Of course the human body is a beatiful thing that God created, but saying that children should be subjected to porn is just obsurd! Looking a porn suggests to a small mind that it is okay to be sexually premiscuous, which is a lot of the reason for the massive outbreaks of STDs and unwanted pregnancies, which lead to cold-blooded murder. Seeing these images at young (and a lot of time, even old) ages does more harm than good. You're warped.
I think you just can't handle a different viewpoint than your own. Maybe political discussions aren't for you. Maybe some day you'll be ready for it, but not quite yet. As for grabbing a doughnut and watching some Fox news, sounds like a great idea. No CBS for me.
Amen to that!! Finally, someone around here with a brain. I dig you. And I hope you stick around in this forum. Someone's gotta be the antecdote fighting against liberal views.
Stop right now with the condesending statements and attacking people. You are both 18 and 44, old enough to act like adults. If you want to have a real conversation, act civilized please. I got this today, overa week after I made this post. What will happen in the...11-10-2004 01:34 AMTell it to the liberals I dont even know what tell it to the liberals means. And your still children.
Who's not behaving like an adult? Me? or Moonjava? Or us both? What is it that we're doing that isn't adult-like? You got some specifics on that or are you going to just bawl your eyes out some more because you ran into someone who disagrees with you and who sticks to their guns?
There are many people on this forum who I disagree with and they have not changed their minds on anything. Your comment about me "bawling my eyes out" does not seem like a very mature way to talk to someone, nor is it very convincing in changing my mind or showing me your side of he arguement. Do you understand this?
Oh, FFS. Did I hurt your little feelings? Do you feel the need for healing? Do you want me to reach out for you? Gosh, I said you were bawling your eyes out. How hurtful. WAAAAH! WAAAAAAAHH!!! Somebody call the WAAAAAAAAAMBULANCE!!!! I swear, the only thing liberals do well is whining. Can't take the heat? Get out of the kitchen.
I don't like porn either. But you know, if I have a problem with my child looking at porn then I would pay attention to what my child is doing. Porn has been around forever, it isn't going away anytime soon. And most agree that porn is not something for children. Best solution is for parents to actually be parents. But porn, and nakedness are two different things. What Lick said was completely accurate, and I will expand. People need to get over their taboos with nakedness. Ever think that those taboos have anything to do with men acting like retards every time they see a pair of breasts? If we could learn to disassociate nakedness with sex maybe it wouldn't be such a problem. People shouldn't be conditioned to be shameful of their body, or of nakedness in order to keep them from having sex. But that is beside the point of the entire thread.
Thank you for such sound advice, I'll get right on it, right after I learn to disassociate air with breathing. God, some people.
It's a cultural meme. Nakedness doesn't have to be associated with sex. There are plenty of examples in cultures unlike our own as proof of that. In those same cultures you wont find problems such as rape. Granted, these are small tribal societies, and ours is much larger, but it gives you some sort of insight as to what may not be quite right with our culture. If you know where you're coming from it is easier to head someplace better.
the question is, why do they not associate nakedness with sex(or vice versa)? Id be willing to bet that all western cultures do. That leads me to believe that the places that do not associate nakedness with sex(i'd assume tribal cultures, mainly africa) also have poor human rights records for females. Especially in tribal africa, things like female genital mutilation still occur and they are extremely paternalistic among other things. Do you know of an example of a country where nudity is not associated with sex and has a stellar record of female rights?
That makes no sense...Are you trying to say that nakedness in these cultures are linked to genital mutilation? Or any other tradition they hold? I am not a sociology professor or anything. If you are interested in the subject, by all means study it. But I am not going to go into cultural memes and taboos being that it is completely off topic here. As interesting a topic as it may be.
It is a cultural trait that you are talking about...not associating nakedness with sex. You have to take into consideration other cultural traits(patriarachalism and genital mutilation among other things). You cant take them separately without taking other factors into consideration as for WHY they dont associate nakedness with sex. but yes...another thread another time..
But I am sure you would have no problem at all classifying a 14-15 y/o who killed their parents as an adult? I have a simple solution for you Astaroth. It's called parenting. I have two children and I can guarentee you that they haven't been exposed to very much I didn't want them to be. If someone wants pornography enough they will find it. I saw my first magazine on the bus in the 6th grade (Age 11) long before the internet was in use. Education, direction, understanding, compassion and monitoring. Why subject the world to your views? Can you not see how unhealthy that is? Besides that this site isn't hosted in the United States. Europe has a very different vision of adulthood than the bread basket of America.
Thank you for such sound advice, I'll get right on it, right after I learn to disassociate air with breathing. God, some people. If you cannot disassociate nakedness from the sexual urge I think you need help, are you honestly saying that if you see a naked man or woman, all you can think about it shagging them? ** In my younger days when I lived in France, during the summer I used to sell Ice creams, drinks, and doughnuts on the beaches in the area I was living in. One beach that I used to work was a nudist beach, in fact it was a whole nudist resort of thousands of people. There was everything that you would find in a normal resort, villas, hotels, bars, restaurants, night-clubs, souvenir shops, shopping malls and supermarkets, the only difference was that everyone was naked. It had people of all ages on it any many families on holiday from around Europe in fact it was little different than any of the ‘clothed’ beaches I worked on. The rule on the beach was that you have to be naked which was a way to deter those puerile few (usually young males or older men that associate nakedness with a sexual thrill) that had only gone there to ogle others. Those that run the place had found that while such people found it exciting to see other people naked, they found being naked themselves uncomfortable and would therefore leave rather than reveal themselves. http://gofrance.about.com/cs/nudismnaturism/a/capdagde.htm **
You know Fox got busted for making 2 fake stories, one where a reporter made up quotes for Kerry. http://www.usatoday.com/news/politicselections/nation/president/2004-10-02-fox-kerry_x.htm?POE=NEWISVA I think it is interesting, especially since you like to use the CBS joke more than anyone else here. Ignorance and intolerance at it's finest
Individuals who consider France the pinnacle of human civilization make my blood boil. That is the country that soiled itself more than a baby with diarrhea. FFS, pack up your crap and MOVE to France. The US could use less degenerates.
Just to add to the nudity subject, I think the human body is a beautiful thing also. But I also think that you should keep yourself covered, except when it comes to being in an adult situatin after you have reached a certain age. I don't think we should show our kids pics of naked people. I don't see how that would do any good. They will see some day. All kids are immature when they are young. Once they get older, they grow out of that and become more mature.
I know FOX isn't perfect, nor is any other media source. I just like to bash CBS for f-ing up, since the folks around here just love bashing FOX every chance they get... as if every other mainstream media source isn't guilty of the same thing. I don't even usually watch FOX news, I get my news from outside sources that are not in the mainstream. They tend to tell you more. I also know and understand that the media is a business i.e.--they'll say whatever it takes to SALE! Trust me, I have been studying this industry for quite some time now. There are rules journalists are supposed to follow, and I think that most of them do try. But in several cases there is someone at the top of the latter trying to get rich, so reporters are prevented from doing their jobs accurately. I think when it comes to the media, you can never trust anything you hear until you research it further. You just have to use your intuition, and hope you are trusting the right resources based on whatever facts you have gathered. adios! mj
