What would you do if someone said you suck at something you're passionate about?

Funny coincidence, I just took a pair of chopsticks from a Chinese restaurant today...

 

Aren't most chopsticks from Chinese restaurants disposable?

Because you said you may take harsh criticism as an opportunity to reevaluate your lifes goals...

We're not saying the same thing at all. I'm suggesting sticking to your guns when your talent doesn't match your vision is admirable, not delusional.

i still haven't figured out what my passion is. although, i'm good at pretty much everything, so i would assume they were mistaken.

 

Just wanted to say that I relate completely...

Although I have some very close friends, who I've been friends with since I was 10, I could up and leave and wouldn't be affected in the least. Deep down, I have almost no emotional attachment to anyone whatsoever.



As for the passion thing... if I'm passionate about something, that's reason enough to keep doing it. I enjoy photography... if my pictures never sold and people constantly reminded me how much I completely suck at photography, I'd say "good, you don't have to buy my shit." Me being passionate about it would be reason enough to continue on.... not validation from anyone else.

Besides, how often do you find something that you're really, truly passionate about?

bsr has lots and lots of thoughts and opinions concerning weakness. some are wild claims others are not so, this one is something i would seemingly agree on as well.


but proving someone wrong may put them at your advantage. so is this really a weakness?

 

I feel like it's not really my place to prove someone wrong. I'm not into power struggling with people all the time. I'd rather let them just think that their right...
I've never been the one to try and prove my point just to make you feel stupid, for my pleasure.
I think that's pretty low.
