There have been a few sports where I have seen this occur and it is a disgusting thing to do to someone. It is a blatant sign of lack of respect. Those who choose to spit on others are contemptible.
Sometimes it is easier to say I hate you than I love you. That is the very time that love is needed. The contemptible are the result of our contempt.
Sorry thedope but if someone chooses to spit in my face, I am not feeling the love. I would not retaliate but would walk away and rather not be bothered again with them. If they can work up the energy to use their mouth to spit it would be far more productive to then use it for words.
so if you got spit on, you would calmly reply "sir, i have to inform you that what you are doing is illegal. please proceed to cease these actions, or i will be forced to perform a citizen's arrest."
No need to apologize, I would just wipe it off without prejudice. Stop the wave of discontent from propagating at that moment. I am not damaged by spittle. All expressions of love are maximal, it could simply amount to holding ones tongue in a heated moment, or a smile on an elevator. It would be helpful if the term responsibility was not considered as synonymous with guilt.
I really find spitting to be very rude. So unless I ask to be spit on like in the middle of a sexual act it’s really not ok. If someone spit on me I would hold them down and throw up into their mouth.
if someone goes so far as to spit on you and you let that go simply wipe it away... i hate to imagine what hel think he can get away with in the future, to you and to others, if someone has gone this far you have a responsibility to yourself and to him you must teach him this is not acceptable. i think the pain and suffering of a broken jaw would be sufficent to be sure he will never violate another like this.
I don't understand some of you people. I'd be more likely to turn the other cheek if someone punched me or slapped me than I would if someone were to spit in my face. Spitting in someone's face is one of the most disrespectful things a person can do.
I've always been of the opinion that spitting is the worst. I must confess that, even though I know that restraint should be employed, it is something that would provoke a reaction. - Perhaps I'd retrieve the saliva with cupped hand and having done so, place it from whence it came - smearing it upon and around their face! eace:
No disrespect, but disrespect is based on an abstract illusion of dignity. Nothing real can be threatened. Further, I think it a totally erroneous assumption that we can reliably preempt or predict anyone's future behavior. Why add unnecessary emotional charge to the event. Why duplicate and thus extend animosity.
Yeah that sounds fun. Fuck smearing that shit though. Cup the saliva with your hand and slap the FUCK outta the mofo that spat on you.
You should return the disrespect because the person who is trying to express such disrespect should have that disrespect returned to them, and there is nothing you can say that can dispute that, imo, no matter how eloquently you word it.
It seems a meaningful equation but the two things in reality do not cancel each other out. Disrespect + disrespect = more disrespect, not less. If there is a lack of respect in any situation, then what is needed is more respect. What is needed is the manifestation of a contrary example.
