What's Happening???

Taking two items to the Goodwill (a second-hand/charity/thrift-store) today. Both items are old wallets of mine, as I have upgraded.

 

Just an FYI, Goodwill is actually for profit. It's not a charity shop

I hope it doesnt come across as preachy that i'm telling you that - i'm just telling you because I was surprised when I found out

I still occassionally buy things from Goodwill but I stopped donating after I found out. I now donate everything to a local thrift store whose profits all go towards a foster program for kids

 

Thank you! I had no idea. My mom is very charitable and always donates to them. I just followed suit. I will have to give some thought to other venues.

I struggle not to call out their bullshit every time though but I'm getting there

My grandson, who is due in October, has a name now! No more calling him Egbert. His name is to be Kobe Zane last name.

 

Guess I was posting in the other thread...

 

When I read the 6 figure amount their CEO makes, and I'm aware of the pitiful wages their employees make PLUS the employees are NOT allowed to even shop in the Goodwill they work in...I quit going period. Well, I will go about every 6 months or so and head DIRECTLY for the $1 rack at the back of the store when I need a bum around shirt or 2.

I NEVER donate to that misleading place...any/all of my donations go to the Haven of Rest in my town.

I use Amazon to get a lot of books that I can't seem to find...when I see its coming from Goodwill, I would rather pay a little more than pay them anything (more than $1).

 

We might be getting a new car. Hubby is in negotiations right now. I wonder how it's going.
