Yah I specified rap. It'd be difficult for me to pick the GOAT producer for any other genre besides Electronic Music.

Idk why that impresses me. I think some of the dj's out there are really talented.

But, anyways. I like most genres of music. Music is one of those things that can change your mood in an instant.

    Absolutely.

Still doesn't change the fact that he made a career out of being gangsta when he was anything but.

I hear what you're saying but he did grow up in Compton though, which from my understanding of the place I'm sure he was plenty exposed to that lifestyle. Also, at the time Dre was in that electro group, I think Too Short was about the only notable West Coast Rapper.

Certainly but he was more "Express Yourself" than "Nigga Wit' a Gun."

Snoop, Eazy, Biggie, Jay-Z were all dealing at one point, and I think Suge Knight was a straight up stone cold G. Dre just wanted to make music.

No it pertains to all music since RAP in all its forms and incarnations is Da Bomb.

To quote MC Hammer "You Can't Touch This"

    Haters gon hate.

Biggie could rap circles around Too Short's simplistic rhymes.

Slinging dope don't make a man gangsta or hard though.
(Most of those guys at the end of the day were probably, unbeknownst to them, working for Italians. ;) nudge nudge we know who the OGs are)

My impression is most rappers music isn't exactly autobiographical. *shrug* I could be wrong.

PS: Suge Knight probably really does deserve to be in jail.

My nice neighbor's nice dog just scared the bejeebus out of me!

I whooped too! I'm sure I scared the dog right back, lol

I took the trash to the street and the dog was on the other side of the big bush and barked at me from out of nowhere.

    Who is the hater now?

Too Short is still releasing records with his "simplistic rhymes"

I don't hate Biggie, I just don't hold him up on this pedestal like some. Knowing that, from my perspective, his 2 biggest singles were lifted beats and the album cover from his first album is essentially lifted makes me question how gifted he really was as an artist compared to how gifted his marketing really was.
