    The deal with Hendrix is...

Les Paul had figured out everything that could be done to the guitar untill Jimi came along. Literally, everyone played the same ways, and noone ever used feedback with any musical intent or creativity (some may argue that, but thats another topic entirely).

Hendrix not only used feedback, he and engineer eddie kramer used new techniques in the studio that had not been achieved before. And the songs were charting hits, going beyond music for musicians alone.

THEN, after he had done new things and amazed the smart studio guys and musicians, he did the same music live for everyone else, proving that he was more than a session player, and that he didnt need any studio tricks to play what you hear on the record.

When jeff beck and eric clapton played, people stood and watched amazed. When jimi played, beck and clapton stood and watched amazed with everyone else.
