Yeah, I know. It's an awesome deal. I think it's like, $7 or $8 a month for streaming, right? I'm not the one who pays that bill in my house, but I'm pretty sure that's it. I mean, I can be pretty cheap at times, but I'm not nearly that cheap. If you aren't going to support the film makers by buying the DVD, at least support the film's distributors like Netflix. I'm pretty sure Netflix pays the people who own the rights to the film to stream them on the site (I mean, they'd probably have to legally, right?) and the more money those rights holders get from the movie, the more likely they are to fund another project by the people who made the movie. So you're helping film makers. Even moreso if the film maker is the one who owns the rights to their movie, and with a lot of indie films, that's the case - at least from my experience. Anyway, I've been watching through every episode of Burn Notice for the third time now. I wish they'd upload a new season. I need my Bruce Campbell fix, and they aren't going to put up Briscoe County Jr. anytime soon.
I watched a documentary called Small Town Gay Bar. It's directed by a friend of Kevin Smith's and put out on his production company. It's about a bunch of gay bars and the people who go to them in the rural south and everything that they deal with. I'd highly recommend it. I rarely watch documentaries, but this one I enjoyed quite a bit.
Last thing I watched was "Arrested Development" last movie I watched was.."Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter." LOL.
I've had the first season of shameless sitting on my desk for i think 4 months now. They probably cancelled my netflix account by now. I should probably start watching it.
Movie: Mr. Nice, meh. I would not recommend it to anyone; it was a waste of time. it’s not bad, but it’s also nothing new and the performances are not particularly great. Shows and Mini Series: The Fall, it was excellent. I particularly enjoyed the portrayal of the human side of a serial killer and how it made you empathize with him. I forget the actor who plays the serial killer, but he’s really good and super sexy. Gillian Anderson is great as the dominant, take no bullshit detective. The show takes place in Belfast and I’m quite fond of Irish accents. I can’t wait for the 2nd season. Top of The Lake. This show takes place in New Zealand and the scenery along with the cinematography is very beautiful. There are a lot of amazing panoramic shots. The story revolves around a 12 year old pregnant girl named Tui who’s believed to have been raped and then her disappearance, I think the girl that played her did really well. It was interesting to see the many sides of her. I liked how strong her character was. Her dad’s character was also really great and complex, but Holly Hunter was fantastic as the strange, aloof “enlightened” teacher. The story was ok, but I liked the character development. Hit & Miss, besides the stupid name I enjoyed this show and it made me love Chloe Sevigny even more. She plays a transgender (male to female) hit-man who discovers she’s a father. It was really fun, too bad it ended on an inconclusive note since it didn’t get renewed for a 2nd season. Hatfields & McCoys. I think the show is funny and the dialogue is sometimes great. I also love the costume and setting, but after sometime I feel like I’m just watching people shoot at each other for no reason, without much of a story.
I thought that was great too. The acting was reminiscent of Twin Peaks in the way that what each character represented was over the top and I loved the use of symbology and the Jungian influence.
Haven't been watching movies on Netflix lately... But when the new episodes of 'Arrested Development' came out, I decided to rewatch the series. I'm about halfway through the new season. That show is fn perfect.
I just watched "Mystery Men". Hadn't seen it since it came out in 1999. (Before I started to hate Ben Stiller.)
I believe I've used all my spare time for the last week watching Season 1 of Adventure Time over and over and over and over...
I watched that new Netflix show "Orange Is The New Black". I hate the name of it, but the show was funny. I thought the supporting characters and their stories were much more interesting that the main character and her plot, that made me yawn and I wish I had seen more of the others.
I've watched two episodes so far, and it seems pretty good. Lot's of boobs and lesbian sex in the first episode to get all of the guys (and lesbians, I suppose) to keep watching.
I completely finished the Orange Is the New Black series and I am absolutely in love with it. Season 2 is already in production and I don't remember the last time I've been this excited about a show that wasn't a mind numbing reality series, haha!
I watched a movie on netflix called Starlet the other night. I loved it! Indie flick with great directing and refreshing acting. Here's the synopsis from imdb: "An unlikely friendship forms between 21 year-old Jane and the elderly Sadie after Jane discovers a hidden stash of money inside an object at Sadie's yard sale."
