Well then smart-ass tell that to the Discovery Channel who highlighted Liopleuridon on their special Walking with Dinosaurs Hotwater
Because while the special focused on dinosaurs, it also talked about animals that lived alongside the dinosaurs that the general public mistakenly believe to be of the same genus as dinosaurs. It's the same with flying reptiles (pterosaurs, etc).
the general public knows that not everything that lived alongside the dinosaurs is technically a dinosaur, but the general public doesn't give a fuck and just calls them all dinosaurs for convenience, as it still gets their point across.
I don't think that the general public does know, actually. You would be surprised how many people I come across who think there were only four or five species of dinosaurs, or who think that whales and dolphins are species of fish... People are surprisingly ignorant when it comes to science.
Who the fuck gives a shit whether or not it's classified as a dinosaur? I think I'll make that my favorite dinosaur just to chap know-it-all's asses.
*Sigh* Okay, let me clarify. What is your favorite dinosaur, flying reptile or marine reptile from the age of dinosaurs? And please, no more Barney, lickalotopus or sarahpalinosaurus.
troodon is by far my favorite. they were headed somewhere great threads like this remind me how much of a nerd i am
