You are fucking stupid. WWII vets got $3,000 homes? Is that what you are upset about? Someone got a better deal than you? Get a life.
There are people dying in Iraq just as people died in WWII. It's the life THEY CHOSE TO LIVE when they joined the military! If the "deals" weren't good enough for you to join because you would be jealous of other soldiers and their deals, you didn't have to fucking join! Period!

Now, this skank winehouse was not discussed in MY home because I don't give a damn about the death of celebrities. Don't throw me into the same fucking fires as these morons that care for little more than celeb deaths and scandles.

Also, my home is a very political place. The war, soldiers ETC. are discussed on a regualar basis. No, I don't sit down at the end of every fucking night and make a list of every fallen soldier and write his family a letter. The list of names would be too great to handle. Is that why you are so bitter? You didn't get enough attention while in the service? The men and women in Iraq who put there lives on the line and die for us are very much respected around here, so shut your fucking mouth!

Flag made of hemp? Seriously? You are telling me that the freedom which our flag represents and the people who died for it is shit because it's not made of hemp? Really? The material used to make the flag is really what makes it great? If that's how you judge things, Jeffery Dohmer was a pretty stand up guy, then. Right? Yeah sure. He ate people, but he wore suits made from silk and other fine cloth! Maybe a pair of hemp socks!

    You are an idiot.

Burn the fucking thing. Patriotism and nationalism responsible only for millions of deaths and utter misery in the world. A flag symbolises only that, no more. So eat your god damn hearts out - destroy, stomp on, shit on and cum on the monstrosity

This is the only post I've felt I needed to use colour, ever

Time we turned our flag solid green, and start adding stars whatnots and start feeding the world with American farms, Fueled by Bio Cannabis. Food, making Textiles to clothe people. Not bombing the fuck out of middle east infrastructure. It not like were selling them American made steel in return. All we did was steal the oil.

many you cant even look at a dead animal in the roadway, yet will stand behind bombing some poor people that you dont even know from afar. Turning them into roadkill..

This says to me that you hate every other place in the world. Which is it? It can't be both. You either love it all, or only love what is "yours". Why this arbitrary border chosen a few hundred years ago for imperialistic and selfish reasons so important to you? How is it at all relevant to what is going on right now, with the divisions it has created between people, and the state it has put your aboriginal people?

i thought debate over this overly silly question of yours was over since Texas vs. Johnson. no one explained this better than hicks though. the flag stands for freedom... to burn the fucking flag , among other things.

Meh. I wouldn't burn the flag because burning a piece of cloth doesn't explain to anyone why I'm angry or dissatisfied with my country's policies, but if someone else feels the need to burn it - it doesn't bother me. All descent should be allowed since America and its flag supposedly stands for freedom.

This is the main reason why I wouldn't participate in flag burning. I still appreciate my country as a whole regardless of what our government does (and despite how blind and brainwashed the general populace is). I can't imagine being any happier in another country.

  10. Love it or leave it has alliteration going for it and that's it. Nazi Germany, Love it or Leave it. It's completely backwards. You protest BECAUSE you love your country and want to see justice done.

My main thing about flag burning is that anger shouldn't dictate one's reactions. I don't burn flags, but if I did it would be to protest the anger that it rouses. There's a big difference between just, rational nationalists and angry nationalists with poor judgment. If it didn't rouse such oppressive tendencies, there would be nothing to protest.

I think the people who get really angry about it get so angry irrationally, like the country is going to collapse. That's not going to happen. Flag burners should, ideally, simply be ignored. Raise a flag in response if you want to. Don't start threatening imprisonment, violence, or deportation.

Burning flags is the most idiotic and backwards action. The only thing it expresses is that the person doing it is completely brainless .... as are the people getting angry about "their" flag being burned. In nazi Germany the flag's value was higher than that of the individuals life. Does anybody really want to be associated with that school of thought?

    I didn't think so.

do people die for flag and country ?

to be a warrior protective of family is naturally human
and political powers have abused this vitality of the young .
flag and country is a political creation , and broken soldiers
and broken families who survive the wars of empire have little
else to hold on to .

whoever would burn the little flag placed at a gravestone ?

The burning of a flag is a symbol. A flag itself is a symbol. We use words and pictures and music as symbols to express ourselves, how is setting something on fire any different?

A memorial, such as a war memorial or a gravestone are symbols that commemorate the memories of human beings, but a flag is simply a symbol of a country's morals and ideals. Nobody in war dies for a flag, they die, apparently, for what that flag represents, something that can't be set on fire.

I'm not sure I want to agree with that. A flag maybe hundreds of years old. The morals and ideas of a country may have changed significantly since the flag was first created.

Whenever I see someone (e.g. on TV) burning a flag and maybe stomping on the smoldering remains my reaction is: IDIOT.

As if burning a flag would have any effect.

If you want to attack someone, attack them.

what else has been done with a u.s. flag ?

fly it upside down . angst

lower it to half-mast and leave it there . sorrow

    for a Poe-etic image , i'm amused when the twenty-so
vultures of the village gather atop the grand dome of the courthouse ,
especially after a rainy afternoon and their wings are out-stretched to dry .
