I think people can do whatever they want to do with it. If you wanna burn a flag then go ahead... If you wanna crap on a flag go ahead because its just a flag.
Absolutely. It's Freedom of Speech, period. There is nothing 'sacred' about the flag, nothing special about it that should protect it from Freedom of Speech. Freedom of Speech is sacred, if anything. And flag burning is a very powerful message.
Sure, there's nothing wrong with it. I've done it. Somebody thinks it should be illegal? Then what after that? Eventually questioning official politics at all will land you in prison.
Now some American flags were burned at Occupy Charlotte http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/nat...y-charlotte-creates-divide-among-members.html Personally I think this action can only do harm to the movement, at least at this time.
I'm not political. My view on the political world is that it's bad, but nothing is bad enough that it can't be screwed up even worse by messing with it. So my opinion on it is neutral and I don't mess with it. Flag burnings are just one of those things that happen every day. I don't consider myself an American, despite being born and raised here. I'm a human being. That is a much greater honor. As for burning flags, as I recall that is the only proper way to dispose of them. Throwing them away is a no-no. So I don't care. -BlkBks
fuck it . the flag was were and will be vessels inventions ,companies , powerful groups of interests and influence . FLAG IS NOT A PEOPLE CREATION . a flag don't represents people . especially a flag with some idiot stripe ,
I'm proud of my country, i'd be pissed if i saw somebody burning our flag. no government is perfect, they all lie, brainwash, and cause war... But they do some good as well, and in my opinion Canada is the best country in the world. Burning the flag would be highly disrespectful to the honest hard working citizens, the few good parts about government, all the soldiers that died for us, etc... Its rude and unnecessary.
If your country is that bad, then burning the flag would be a good form of protest IMO. It's illegal in the U.S. though, right?
It's symbology. By burning the flag you show the disconnection between the people and the country. If people decided hey, we should change some of our culture to allow for our people to be happy, instead of just getting pissed off, maybe flag burners would be glad to say they're part of this god forsaken country.
Native Americans fly the U.S. flag upside down to protest the genocide perpetrated on them by this government. What the U.S. government did to the REAL Americans is no different than what Hitler did to the Jews.
I think a flag is a symbol of what is good about a nation, as well as a symbol of what needs to change about a nation. Would I burn a flag of my own country or that of any other? No, I would not since I do not think it is conducive to getting positive attention to ones cause. However, I have no objective moral qualms about the practice.
