here's my list: clothes: goodwill, or the clearance rack at target for shorts ($7.00) haircut: i cut my own groceries: well i work in a vegan cafe so i eat there every day. otherwise we go to the co-op when we have the $$$. we dumpster veggies and have a thrift store here that gives away free bread. car parts: we go by bike
Usualy health food stores for food and such and i get my clothes at usualy Value village or the downtown Thrift shop, and for my other things i go to retro relics for books, pipes, bongs, insence, all that funn stuff
Hello. Whole Foods and Costco for my groceries and cleaning products. Make my own clothing. Once in a while we will go to the farmers market. Thrift stores are a must.
For groceries: Whole Foods Market, Every day household items: Target, clothes: thrifting (buffalo exchange, goodwill, savers, vintage shops, etc) and various labels (i'm a sucker for high fashion).
For clothes its either JCPennies or someother place that carries Levi's, and usually Pennies or Walmart for T-shirts/belts etc. For groceries it's Fred Meyer. For various random stuff it's WalMart or Target. I go to Master Cuts for my hair. I go to Napa or Schucks for auto parts.
walmart for groceries, but i shop late at night so i dont have to deal with the stupid crouds. 98% of my clothes come from thrift stores, garage sales, friends. 2% of my clothes come from the sales rack. lol im cheap. but everyone says i have cute clothes. you dont have to pay alot to look good! our goodwill sucks, DAV is alright, but i like the salvation army here, its pretty sweet. the best thrift stores are the smaller ones, though. and they closed down the lions club thrift store, which i was a daily shopper there. DAILY. oh well. oh yeah, and the dollar store! you can get SO much there, its crazy. your dishes, your cleaning supplies, your shampoo, beauty products, etc. socks undies,, all a dollar, i love it.
get a pressure cooker. I cook at 5600+ feet and this is the only way to go: 30 min to 45 min and voila, beans. Great idea. I'd happily sticky a self sufficiency thread or if some supporter would like to use their personal, I'd sticky a link!
For groceries I prefer small family owned shops. I can get giant bags of rice for a few bucks. I'd rather support families than giant corporations. Thrift stores are good too. .
I get most of my t-shirts from stuff I do: Rockc limbing comps, orchestra stuff, boy scout, and yearly hempfest.
wow im so glad this is still going i love to read where ppl shop, especially those on a low budget, but still being aware (i.e. avoiding super large corporations and goign for second-hand)
I live in Austin, Texas, where I shop at HEB for groceries, although sometimes Albertsons has good deals on certain foods. For clothes and shoes, I buy new at Target or Academy, or used at Goodwill, Thrift Town, or Savers. For auto parts and supplies, it's Autozone. I don't shop Walmart because of their business practices of raiding small towns, although I was "forced" to go there about three weeks ago because something I needed was not available anywhere else after my car was burglarized. Sometimes I find things people have discarded that are still in good condition at the car wash I work at, such as an almost new looking pair of Vans skating shoes that are perfect for work as they are slip resistant and the car wash is a rather wet environment. I shop for grocieries at a local organic co-op. Clothes I like to hunt down at thrift stores. Walmart is evil!
