Yes, I think that's a valid tactic! Asia for certain, country I would guess is China. But since it looks like a temple I can't narrow it down without searching first.
so you know, Skip, I did not even think of doing a ppicture search engine thing...I put in tall bird with blue face and that is how I got many photos and then saw the one that was in your photo. That is how I knew. Oh, well.... I would never have known that...never even heard of that bird before. Was that against the rules...doing any kind of search? Nice that some do work and others get it, though just like that.
The half-timber construction ("probably the greatest number of half-timbered buildings in the world are to be found in Germany and in Alsace") and the deciduous tree in the background are clues. The fact that you've been there, and the fact that you live in the Netherlands suggests that it's likely to close to there. An even bigger clue is that if you click on the image, the name of the city is right in the URL.
Yes, I was indeed thinking of Alsace, but on the German side. Can't remember the place... but I may have been there! I had a German girlfriend who took me all around that region in the 1980s (she lives in Freiberg). That's how I knew. I'm not using a search engine at all. This is meant to be guesswork rather than research. I think with guessing we can narrow it down, without having to cheat.
Glad I read the previous responses first! I was going to say Laos or Cambodia. Must be a temple for them. Probably in California, no?
At first I was going to say Oak Creek Canyon in Arizona, but that's no 8 hour hike. I'm guessing it's the Grand Canyon, as I know it takes that long even tho I've never been to the bottom. Also I've seen water that color in pics from the Canyon. Havasupai falls? That might be bigger than these.
I see lots of fireweed so it's somewhere in the Northern US. Looks a bit like a mini version of Table Mountain in South Africa. Could be oregon, idaho, wyoming even alaska... I'm enjoying the challenge of figuring these pix out!
The Cassowary is in the Mission Beach area of Queensland. Keep your distance, they will rip you to bits with those claws while defending their chicks. PS, The Cassowary is the third largest (flightless) bird in the world, after the Ostrich (Sth Africa) and the Emu (Australia).
Yes, that's correct, because there's only one other place where they can be found! Someone else said Queensland b4, so you're late...
Skip, that pic reminds me of Mt Connor, near the Erlunda to Ayers Rock (NT) road. Vegetation is far too green though.
