Which of these bands is most overrated?

covering a song isnt stealing ..you went on the net and found a discography...try readin an interview or two...lets flip this...you name a band...any fuckin band that didnt get influence from some other band....and i dont mean some fuckin weird ass shit that no-one knows.....every band...EVERY BAND on that list recorded other peoples songs .....borrowed riffs etc..also you should maybe tell us your source cause some of those are opinon based...led zep did credit and pay for alot of material..welcome to the music biz....gotta flee

 

making music is all about emulation.

except if you play 12 bar blues and Harmonica. then thats just flat out imitation of the same shit thats been done over, and over and over. but even the Beatles give credit for emulating Ray Charles, Dylan, and even Fleetwood Mac. Nirvana also covered and emulated the Meat Puppets.

just pick up a guiter and try writing something good without calling upon your
favorite musicians for inspiration. it's a hard thing to do.

 

They did "appropriate" not credit or "arrange" other peoples music that was obviously not theirs - for a while. I'd say that was not cricket.
If you want to see all of it as "borrowing", fine. Don't have a cow.

I'm terribly bad at calculating which band is overrated more than the other but

U2, not mainly because of Bono, I immediatly get a bad temper when I hear them (I guess from my point of view this band is indeed the most overrated, but yes I admit it's not an objective decision ), and Radiohead, I probably just don't get 'it' .
I think Led Zeppelin is definately overrated too but what can I say, at least they made music I like..

 

nah. it took a bit longer than that. i used to love mtv, it had VIDEOS. i was like "WHAAAAAT?" and like, they were all cool and different and shit.

actually, age does factor in, no matter how unpleasant you may find it.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to agree with you. You are in fact, an epic douchebag. Page-Plant gave themselves writing credits for music that was 50+ years old on their first 3 albums. They were later forced to change the sleeves and labels on subsequent pressings.

I highly recommend you read a book by Timothy English titled "Sounds Like Teen Spirit: Stolen Melodies, Ripped-Off Riffs, and the Secret History of Rock and Roll". You might learn something.
