its interesting what is tolerated and what isn't, for instance saying hurtful things about a race that plenty of people belong to is fine, but insulting the person who did so is not, for some reason talking in detail about molesting little kids is fine too.

I have no problem with BET but it is a racist channel, just becuase it caters to a minority does not mean its not racist just the same. Using the term "Black Entertainment Television" to be belittles the people they represent. Its almost claiming they are not good enough for main stream channels so they made a niche for them on a special channel.

Hollywood is not a requirement in life just a dream and some become porn stars because they cant get in the door of the Hollywood movie scene so BET is another branch for those less willing to try harder or luck out as some do. Its almost like the special classes for those students who could not function in regular classes.

I know it will be said that becuase of racism they would have fewer chances, and harder work to get into the industry well so would obese people, ugly people ect but thats the nature of the business, it sucks but some did make it and others do too through hard work, dedication and some with luck.

I think your segregation idea is great. Then black children won't learn from you, or your unfortunate children that inter-racial hate and ignorance is a normal adult behaviour and perhaps they might make some progress.

Poetry isn't really over it's head dealing with this kind of thing, but (assuming this isn't just a really stupid joke) the words can kind of feel wasted. Like thers nothign you can say to fight this stuff.

Yeah, you have to say something. Sad though. The internet has its cons. In the old days we could have ended the discussion with a bludgeoning or even a tar and feathering. Now its say whatever the fuck you want from the comfort of your own house.

Theres no way to attack the idea of racism over the internet.

Seperate but equal has lots of problems, a few of which are the fact that segregation indicates there are differences in people which mean they can't go to the same schools.

Even if that was acceptable, (which it isn't, seperate!!) but equal was never even close to equal. It's the same phrase used to justify segregation on racial grounds.

So its morally and technically fucked up. But theres no other reason for it then racism. It's a morally, technically, and socially fucked up thing to bring up, and whoever would suggest it clearly has no respect for anyones feelings.

Sometimes a little incivility to make uncivil ideas clear seems like a good tactic. If someones feelings get hurt, cry me a lake.

I was talking a few weeks ago with Holocaust deniers online.

I was trying to be civil, but it's tough. If someone said that too me in real life, I would be tempted to just roll them. I can't imagine if my grandparents had died in the holocaust how I would deal with that.

 

mmm, holocaust denial, "intelligent design", the illuminati conspiracy, outlandish biblical prophecies, and general all round hate. The internet is like an unsupervised insane asylum. I suppose though its free speech in its currently most advanced form so perhaps rampant stupidity is just one of the drawbacks?
