I'm turning 18 soon too, and I'm with jusdino4it- I'm voting for Obama.

    Why?

He seems like a geniunely honest, intelligent, and calm guy. His lack of experience and motivation for bullshit politics as we know them are refreshing also... hes a fresh face who is geniunely interested in making this country better off; not wasting all of his time sitting around talking bullshit in circles.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Ron Paul and his campaign- but mainstream America isnt ready for some of his far-left ideologies. Now I'm no fool; I realize Obama is never gonna get the vote in a lot of states (likely because of his race), but I foresee him having a better shot than Ron Paul... and I want to make my vote count as much as it possibly can after the past 8 years under Bush has fucked the country up enormously.

Obama is level-headed politics based on reason and rationality, and seems open to seriously listening and contemplating knew ideas- not just letting them run in one ear and out the other. Change is the motto for all the candidates (no surprise after Bush), but I really think Obama can make decisions and take action based on the PEOPLE.

Also, hes getting a lot of the youth vote, celebrity endorsement, much of the african american vote etc. I'm not voting based on his ethnicity- I'm going to vote for him because of his character. A candidate can lay out all their issues on the line and explain their stance on things day after day- that doesnt mean they are gonna get it done. (We've obviously seen that under Bush)

The character of a person is what guides their actions and what positions they take on things; and Obama just has so much character, honesty, charisma, and genuine care for the country and the people in it- I trust he will make some good decisions and help make the country better off. His ideas on the major hot topics dont necessarily match mine verbatim- but they are the closest of any candidate that has a remote shot at winning. And like I said- he seems willing to make decisions based on what the people want, and what he sees the people need.

Obama's got my vote in 08, but dont get me wrong, if Ron Paul were to win by some miracle long shot- I would be fucking ecstatic.

yah hes deffinitly a right winger and deffinitly not my first choice but if a right winger had to win id want it to be him. theres no way he can win but i like him in the race just for the looks that other republicans give him at the debates. its like a deer in the head lights look, there all bull shitting each other and hes like this beacon of reason standing on the side lines. its hilarious.
