what we really have are movies that are far more expensive to go see, then they are worth.

and when you measure a movie's worth, by actors or revinue, creative gratification takes the hind most.

its not a matter of being "elitist", that OUR OWN CREATIVITY is the ONLY THING THAT MAKES US HUMAN!

I hope you’re not suggesting that $12 dollars is too much for a movie, or 14.50 is too much for watching the same movie in 3D, or $20 dollars is too much for IMAX 3D, or $7 dollars is too much for a soda, or $8.00 dollars is too much for a large popcorn, or 5 dollars is too much for a box of Dots, or…..:banghead:

you're damd right $12 is too much for a movie, as long as there is anyone earning less then $10 an hour. i can only assume your intent is satyrical, considering that last. do people actually even still go to movies? i mean, other then as an organized event to get a group rate.

Yes, some of us still go to movies and I went to several last year :(

But If it’s any consolation I refuse to go to a particular movie theatre near where I grew up which charges $22.00 dollars a ticket because they consider themselves upscale. They even serve martinis and margaritas in the lounge before you enter the movie theatre

That's the other reason I don't go. Such a rip-off. And $8.00 isn't even the large box of pop corn.

What an offensive comment to make.

How do YOU know what those of us who don't tend to watch movies think?

Did any of us SAY we think we're too good for them? No.

Did you ask us why we don't? No.

Did you ask us if we think we're too good for movies? No

You have just taken a fact which you apparently don't like (that we don't watch movies - though why that should be a matter of concern for you I really cannot imagine) - placed your own, highly offensive interpretation on it (that it's because of intellectual elitism on our part) and then criticized us for attitudes which we have not expressed, which I certainly do not hold, and which I strongly suspect none of the others who have said they don't watch movies hold, either.

I'm not sure what "the oscars" are really. But I hear about them all the time. I couldn't care less. I usually avoid anything that's popular these days.

While I do not watch the Oscars but I have to say that I do sometimes go over the list of awards when I am looking for a movie to watch. Sometimes it works out well and sometimes I am not overly impressed by the film but that is probably more my taste than it was really that terrible.
