I spent several years as a teenager (ahem... "street kid", of sorts) with my hair cut at less than one inch, and I would bleach/dye it regularly. It worked without damaging it too much because I kept it so short - my friends and I could totally f*ck it up and a month later it would be grown out again, we could clip off the previous color and start from scratch. This became sort of a party ritual within my circle of friends, where we would all get totally blasted and think of some crazy new thing to do to my head.

As I got tired of this and grew my hair out a little bit I dyed it less and less. I have insanely curly nappy hair for a white girl, and the last time I dyed it it was a few inches long, and I did it green with streaks of red. I was a bud for Halloween that year :) A couple months later as I was turning my life around, around, and around again, I finally let go, let it dread, and haven't dyed or cut it since. :) I couldn't be happier with it than I am now, my hair is a part of me - a sponge that has soaked up my life for the last five years and will continue to soak and emit positive energy for years to come.

I never used to dye my hair...(well, once or twice) until recently...I don't like the gray on me (I've got about 15% gray), so I dye it about once every two months. I may stop though, and just get used to the gray; as far as I can see, it (the gray hair) ain't goin' away anytime soon...

Scratcho, I just look forward to your posts. I always smile or totally agree with you. I wish you would post more.

I started dying my hair when I started to get gray. I used to use really cool Maroon hair. My sister and I would say, "Every Latino or Italian American womyn has the Constitutional right to dye her hair maroon, when she turns 30." :D

I stopped dying it when my last baby was in my belly. I just didn't have the time, and started "Celebrating my gray." (an other of my sister's sayings, as she is, now, also, too lazy to dye her hair.)

i have never died my hair, but i have coloured it with crayola markers. :) that was a big mistake. it split my ends like no other! i do not suggest it. anyway, i wouldn't consider that dying. but i never entend on dying my hair ever! i think grey hair is pretty, so i won't try to hide it when i get old. natural is the way to go.

I use to believe it was just awful to dye your hair and I didn't do so until I was about 17 or so....since then I've dyed it on occasion but for the most part I've stuck to or around my natural color.

Hm, I've used henna to colour my hair. Big mistake, I found that I miss my natural colour.. I felt more like myself, I felt like it flattered my face colouring more... and I've been doing everything to speed the fading process thus far with little to no success.

I plan to dread it later in life and that might possibly involve colouring some of the dreads very colourfully. I think dreads are gorgeous so that'll probably be my hair as soon as I leave my house. We'll see, we'll see.. never know where life'll take you, right?

But for now, once the henna grows out of my hair, I plan to naturally enhance my natural dark blonde colour using chamoile and lemon juice.

Hah, to answer your question.. no, not exactly.

    :)
