    I always wonder about this:
(from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Analog_Act I know, wikipedia, but I'm guessing it's accurate.)

It seems like the fact that she tried to conceal her identity was used against her. It kind of makes sense...if you claim you are unaware that the substance is illegal, but go through all these hoops to hide your identity, it's a tough argument.

This is assuming that you actually do get prosecuted. I guess if you hide things enough, and don't get caught you'd be fine.

I'd guess the other thing a lot of people would have to worry about is that if the feds ever got a search warrant because you bought RCs in the grey area, they'd likely find some stuff that was much easier to prosecute.

I do believe that if you have only analogs, and only buy personal amounts, it'd be really expensive for the feds to prosecute, so I don't think they'd get enough glory for their buck and would probably not bother.

EDIT: apparently there are cases in which small time individuals are busted, take what i say with a grain of salt then

im not denying that small time buyers could be busted, but why bust them? numbers for the sake of numbers isnt how to DEA is going to operate when it comes to busting analog drugs. take operation webtryp for example. how many arrests were made? 10. 10 vendors. and if they busted 10 major vendors, they had the ability to bust those who purchased from them too. but they didnt because it isnt worth the effort (valuable manpower and money) to make a case for possession of a drug that isnt specifically illegal. power, money, and image are the dea's main concerns, and arresting tripped out RC users at huge costs dont provide any of these (now vendors are a different story..)

picture this hypothetical situation: A man named Joe Smith orders 1 gram of 2c-i from a well known RC vendor. he pays through WU using his real name. he has it sent to his house to his real name. that same week the dea shuts down the rc biz for good - all the major vendors go down including the source Joe used. the source joe used also kept all their customers info and the dea seizes it. LEOs show up at joe's house and say that they know that he ordered 2c-i. joe denies it but the agents have a warrant and procede to search his house. but theres one problem, joe has no more 2c-i. there is nothing illegal in his house. now the investigation was a huge waste of time and money (as if convicting joe wouldnt be).

the dea is more interested in influencing the flow of drugs (and money around drugs) then it is prosecuting every drug user on the face of the planet

Yeah, all true pretty much Doubletree. However...there are 101 things that could go wrong with these types of transactions that could lead straight back to the buyer/and or seller. It's not about DEA looking to bust small time users. I mean there are so many circumstances I can think of that are beyond your control that could put you in the jackpot unless you cover yourself. One example would be that your pkg. could accidentally get ripped open during sorting and the contents exposed. If Postal Inspectors decided to identify your goods and determined it was contraband...there is a very good chance they would follow thru by setting up a controlled delivery. If your name and address are one the envelope you are most likely a goner. Even a small amount can = felony charges and you know they will want to squeeze you for info on the sender and who knows what else? Once a pkg. is identified as containing illegal substances there are lots of things they can learn from it..you might be surprised.

    Hah, how ironic.

Operation Web Tryp actually targeted a lot of people who had ordered 1-2g.

We are working on converting all our tutorials into a pretty wiki. For now they can be accessed in plain-text (with instructional pictures) here; http://afoyi.net.

If a vendor gets raided, He has a ton of packages laying about with the addresses on them. What's stopping the DEA from simply doing a controlled delivery on all those addresses?

The golden rule of staying secure online; Assume everyone is the DEA. Trust no1.

There's a reason binary has managed to stay in the scene for 7 years without going to jail. The DEA bust people all the time (I know 3 scene members who are in jail right now - 2 of them were only ordering personal amounts)

    A operation is long over-due.

There is absolutely no reason not to use some basic precautionary measurements (GPG/OTR encryption). It would take a few hours maximum to figure it out using the tutorials provided above.

auraithX, what specific chems were your friends busted for, and in what quantity? also, what led to them being investigated in the first place?

also, can someone PLEASE show documentation of americans being busted for possession of analog RCs ordered online? im not trying to deny that it has ever happened, ive just never seen or heard of case like this.

One person was arrested for receiving oxycodone in the mail. I can't go into much further detail than that.

I don't have time to scour the net to try and convince you that people got arrested for receiving personal amounts. Google it yourself.

I couldn't care less whether or not you are secure. When the time comes, they will come for you first - not me. :hat:

I'm just posting this in hopes that anyone with half a brain will take warning. All the info is out there, you deserve to be arrested if you don't follow these simply procedures.

It's amazing how many people make up excuses not to be secure simply because they might have to spend a few hours doing so. You act as if I'm trying to get you to join a cult.

People who order personal amounts are the primary target. Because anyone who is running a relatively large RC business is taking at least some sort of precaution.

Couldn't agree more. It's that "yeah, BUT..." attitude that will come back around to bite you in the ass. Complacency and cockiness can get you in trouble just as easily as stupidity.

Just a quick question concerning security here..

If I'm using Hushmail, is there any possible way to use Tor in combination?
If I understand correctly, the java applets that Hushmail uses could break up the anonymity provided by Tor.

Would it be possible to use a proxy? Or is that a no go?

hush mail sucks ass learn to use gpg yourself or at least use safe-mail.net

Tor is already more secure than a standard proxy.

You know the saying about destroying the machine from the inside? What if...binary's a hipforum version of Agent Smith? He knows too much. It's almost like he's here to lull us into thinking he's human, and then BAM you're purged!

The Agency isn't interested in purging you from your high horse, Comrade. They are way more interested in the information you can potentially provide them. Hell, maybe once they've successfully flipped you they might even elevate you to CI status. Given all your obvious potential.,..why on earth would they send in a mole to enlighten you and your brethren on how to give yourself a stealth makeover? Your notion is sans logic.

Using GPG is the plan.. ;)

Except as I understand, the java applications used by hushmail will undermine Tor.

So safe mail doesn't use those same java applications?

Ah, I may have figured it out.
If I were to disable all applications and such from my browser, that would make it impossible for something like a java application to attack anonymity, right?

Sorry for being such a bother with these questions

Use Firefox, firstly. This prevents ActiveX controls from running (or at least prevents sneaky ones). Secondly, get the No-Script extension for Firefox. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722 This disables all scripting on all pages unless you specifically allow them to run. Permission is handled on a site-by-site basis, so you can allow scripts only on sites you know are safe to run them on (sites you don't need high security on).

As an aside, never allow scripts from google-analytics.com, if Noscript gives you that option. Google analytics is a script webmasters include in their pages so they can track visitor statistics, but a side effect of this is that Google is also getting information on sites you visit, since so many sites use Analytics...Not a good thing if you're paranoid.

Edit- Safemail by default has Javascripted menus and such, but they can be disabled in your account preferences.

safe-mail is really no more secure than any other email provider.

And...why would it matter that you both use safe-mail?

    One word; GPG
