If the bible is flawless and you devote yourself to scripture, and are convinced that your take on the bible is accurate, we cannot conceive of any other response. His particular response is demanded by his model of truth. Right now this response has betrayed his comfort level and he chose to flee. This sensation that he is having right now, would be the taste of the fruit of his own conceptions, but I suspect that this application of, "we know them by their fruit", has not occurred to him. There is another "demon" in the equation and that is the ego that would say of himself, "I am not uncomfortable, I am simply being more respectful of the original poster." It probably has not occurred to him this particular application of the phrase, "If I say I am without sin", or, "I cannot be mistaken". If you cannot admit that your own interpretations could be in error then you are not apt to be able to avoid error. We know not what we do.
There is another "demon" in the equation and that is the ego that would say of himself, "I am not uncomfortable, I am simply being more respectful of the original poster." How in the heck did I predict this response?
Because I am simply more respectful of the original poster. Take for instance, this thread is about who God is to you, so why do you feel it's okay to use it as a forum to make denigrating comments about me?
I'm not making denigrating comments about you. I am describing the nature of our discourse through the application of statements of principle. This is what god is to me, god's gift of living word is practical above all things. What makes the living word practical is that it illumines our life. It familiarizes us with our own motives and where we are culpable. It allows us the power to engage with life without the need of the need for investment in defenses. It allows us to see far and wide into any situation and the view is nothing but comforting. Waterbrother, I get a hard on sometimes from imagining the female form. To some that would be conceived as an embarrassing disclosure but native things happen, and this truth allows me to be a home in front of any question. I was born naked and this naked state is "original" state. Do you have anything to say about the content of my statements other than you consider them personally denigrating and out of context?
I always thought a good sense of humor allows yes and no to be in the same room without killing each other.
Every blade of grass, every drop of water, every one of the countless planets and stars, even you and I... God lives in all of us. To me he is not but one being, but alifeforce living on in everything.
This whole thread just sounds like a jambled attempt to quote from (insert generic christian science / buddhist title)
What you say is true. A man without God will not live forever. On the other hand, we all know that J.C. said that "He who believeth in me shall not perish but shall have everlasting life." If you believe that I have a good real estate deal for you.
"God is a concept by which we measure our pain." John Lennon said that. God is an invention of primitive men to explain what was, to them, unexplainable and to give them a sense that their lives had a greater meaning than what was apparent. It didn't take long for god to be co-opted by certain men to advance their own agendas, through fear masquerading as faith, by putting words in god's mouth. That's where the church comes from. God will cease to exist when people stop believing in it, which is to say that god needs people more than people need god. I said that.
