theres no such thing as best in music everyone has there own uniqueness they bring to music. respect all musicians.
Petrucci is good but at times his style is a bit robotic with me......plus his boring on stage but i like the others you mentioned. i got his rock discipline DVD
Well hey, this is something I can actually relate to! OK, so I've said there could be more than one best... But it's still SORT OF like what you're saying because I'm all for the whole "respect all musician" thing. Very cool. :cheers2:
I must say, this is a rather dumb question. Best at what aspect of the guitar? Melody? Technique? Improvisation?,... etc. Styles and what not vary from player to player, genre to genre, so to try and pick a "best" is stupid. Also, Its upsetting for me to sit here and see how many people picked Eddie Van Halen, Hendrix, Jimmy Paige,... It blows me away to see how close minded and limited people are when it comes to music. This is in no way saying they are bad (though I feel EVH and Paige for example are highly overrated), but their are so many "better' players out there. Many of whom are much more proficent with many aspects of the instrument, but just not mainstream. If you like music at all, or consider yourself a musician, please, do some research, look around, and find what you like, not what everyone else does.
I would say Johnny Marr. Would be surprised if a few people haven't mentioned him. I mean, soloing doesn't make a guitarist the most gifted of them all. Jimi Hendrix and co. are all great, don't get me wrong, just I feel Marr wrote original, and prominent lines that no one has since been able to remotely replicate.
