Again, it's just a matter of reading what I wrote. I actually said that categorizing by race and hair color is the same, and that both are wrong. I simply pointed out that one has become more accepted than the other because people seem to realize that hair color means nothing but they still seem to think that race does. I also have stated several times that this was never about racism. I do think that categorization destroys equality and can lead younger minds to racism, however that was not really a part of this discussion to begin with. And White Scorpion is right about people taking the current situation for granted. When you believe that everything is fine and therefore you can continue to let things like this slip through the cracks, you miss what's really going on under the surface of every nation. People get so concerned with free speech that they forget the price everyone is paying for you to have your freedom. I do believe that everyone should have the right to say whatever they want to, but that doesn't make what you are saying right. I really just think that several of you are getting so defensive that you forget what you are actually arguing. Most of the responses I've gotten have been debating issues I haven't even addressed.
Eminem..joking Look, I love Samuel L Jackson, the man is awesome. I like him because he is a great actor, and the man can make anyone wanna cry like a baby, but, it is not unfair for him to be in the black actor category, because he is black, and an actor. How is that unfair? What if you said name your favorite badass actor, guess what, Samuel L Jackson again, cause he is a badass, and an actor. What about favorite actor over 40? OHMIGOD! he is in that one too! HOW UNFAIR! How else can you ask who is your favorite actor who is black without just asking it? Whats wrong with that? There are many colors in this world, and to ignore that takes away from the rainbow. We arent all one color, thats what is so beautiful about it. Color is beautiful, and we should all love it that we are different. So what if we categorize, categories arent bad, as long as they arent barriers. I have favorite Irish actors, Liam Neeson. Favorite Scottish actor? Ewan MacGregor Favorite English actor? Vinnie Jones Favorite Chinese actor? i like Zhang Ziyi cause she is pretty. Favorite Mexican actor? Cheech or Antonion Banderas, cant decide. Look, my point is that I am not unfairly categorizing these people, because they are what they are. My favorite actor, just actor alone? Al Pacino, or course he also is my favorite Italian-American actor.
I agree with you that it's great that we're all different. But it's just a silly thing to separate people based on their differences. It actually is a bit of a barrier though when you say who is your favorite _________ actor. Because then other people don't qualify. Hence, barrier. What's the point of it anyway? That's what I don't get. What do you possibly gain by asking those questions?
your still trying to control people by censoring there thoughts, feelings, statements, etc..... the thought police will never TRUELY change the way a person thinks. the thought police can only limit that persons ability to articulate such thoughts......... now if people do so on there own accord thats a different situation. but thats not this situation now is it....
what do you gain? people find out who your favorite black actor is. That is the question. Techically, by asking favorite actor should automatically eliminate women. Oh god! how unfair, the gender of a word can outcast people! Hows this, Who is your favorite person who performs in movies? person, hmm that left out our animal friends. And why just movies, what about stage performers, or street performers, or habitual liars? They act too! oh and btw, categories and segregation are two different things. What about, whos your favorite Christian actor? Or what is your favorite Pagan music? How can you not categorize things?
I would ask who your favorite actor of the 90's were, but that leaves out so many other decades of actors, its not their fault their career died in the 80's. Poor Matthew Broderick.
you guys are just having way too much fun with this. i'm just gonna call it quits on this one because no one really cares that they aren't arguing with me, they are arguing with completely different topics with people who aren't even visiting this thread anymore. I'm not thought police, hence me saying freedom of speech is great (my right to free speech is included in that you know). But anyway, carry on, as you were, etc. etc. etc. Christy
Dave Chappelle is one of my favorite people in the media today. i even want to say that he's one of my favorite people in the world. as for actors... i don't really like actors. lol...
