lol Actually i don't know a lot of people who look fondly on johnson. The left hates him cause of Vietnam, the right hates him cause of New Deal, and libertarians hate him for both. Same old story of Warfare/welfare. Not really any better or worse than the rest of them.
LBJ wanted out of Vietnam, but it was people like Kissinger and Cheney that demanded we remain. At least he looked after the poor in his own country. These people look after the poor no where...we've seen that with Katrina, Lebanon, Darfur, etc. and now Burma and Pakistan.
Yes, that's right, the commander in chief was brainwashed by his advisors and cabinet members, he couldn't help it... b.s. he was an evil sob just like kissinger just like cheney just like nixon and rumsfeld and regean and ford and bush I and bush II and clinton, ect. he knew what he was doing and he's hopefully burning in hell because of it just like the rest of them are or will be. maybe carter was alright, i dunno, i like the homes for habitat thing, he tried to do good in the mideast, he was into solar power and he came close to legalization, but i'll probably be able to dig up some evil shit on him too. kennedy too. this is the 21st century guy, time to stop believing the myths, fairytales and legends, these were not good people making the best of bad circumstances, they were bad people, very bad people and the world is worse off because they drew breath.
The Carter presidency was another purely puppet presidency much like the current. His cabinet was filled with Trilateralists like Brzezinski, who was the one really calling the shots at that level. Carter was simply a convincing frontman, much like Reagan and Bush Jr.
Well, all I know is that Kennedy had some of the most progressive ideas, but he was weak on many things as well. Johnson pushed through many of Kennedy's ideas and accomplished a HECK of a lot in his terms. He got more of his programs for the poor pushed through Congress than FDR did in a shorter period of time. His downfall was Vietnam. The difference was that he saw his mistake (too little, too late) and declined to run again. Bush, meanwhile, hates the poor (obviously), has done nothing positive domestically, and has gotten us into a quagmire in the Middle East. He REFUSES to see his mistake and would probably run until the end of time if he could. Comparing the two, I would respect Johnson MUCH MORE than El Diablo Bush.
& 60,000 American servicemen paid the price for L.B.J.'s error of judgement on foreign policy affairs along with Nixon who started his own 'Vietnam' with the illegal invasion & blanket bombing of Cambodia in 1970.
