^ Hell yea, its a good idea.. I had this old trip journal, it ended up filled with stories and trip reports, its good shit.
that too.. i could never get into reading something i didnt want to read... but i was good at bullshitting.. one class we were supposed to write an essay about one of the characters in To Kill A Mockingbird.. i read the first 10 pages of the book.. wrote my essay on Boo Bradley.. didnt even get to him in my reading.. but got an A on my essay
damn, boo radley is a pretty complex character too, i just got done with TKM this year it was an ok book, didnt read it on my own tho, only in the class
we discussed the book every couple days after certain chapters were done.. i just remembered enough of what the class talked about to bullshit through it
bullshitting your way through dumbkids english is pretty easy. we read huck finn and our teacher didnt feel like going over all the symbols so we read 11 chapters(of a like 36 chapter book) and then watched the disney movie, and didnt have a test.
We read Huck Finn, over the summer as required reading and then had a test on it RIGHT away, before we ever discussed it. Then it only got worse once we started receiving a plethora of writing assignments all having to be SUPER detailed complex analyses of some element of Twain's writing style. Then it didn't stop there, we had to do the same shit on like 4 different stories, then moved past satire, and we studied Moliere's Misanthrope (yawn). Followed by the lovely "explain how this author achieves his purpose through usage of the objective correlative" :ack2:
holy shit... thats exactly what i did. i just wrote about how boo radley was judged too early because he was a weird hermit but ended up being a really good person... that book is highly overrated though
i read this book called The Rule Of Bone(or something along them lines) it was a great fuckin book.. i suggest it for a read if you need to read something for an english class.. its about these two kids.. and theres like biker gangs.. pedophiles.. marijuana.. kid travels to jamacia to find his dad.. who is like a doctor and deals coke.. lotta shit goes on in this book.. loved it.. i should try and find it and read it again Lord Of The Flies is another amazing classic.. if you never read it.. you need to.. the movie kicks ass too
I would have been more than happy to write a short story like that but I would have prefered more notice. Sorry. As you know I love to write.
The only english class I liked was Comics as Literature..... what a great class.... only one I passed that semester
i read lord of the flies in 8th grade, it was great. another great book is farenheight 451, it's one of my favorites
i just read 1984, it was pretty damn good, i liked it alot, but not as much as farenheight. for some reason the idea of books being illegal really struck a chord with me and you should definetly read lord of the flies, i mean its about a bunch of boys that get stranded on an island and start killing each other, what's not to like?
